Andrea Bocelli Skipped The Cruise Ceremony

Andrea Bocelli didn't go to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding ceremony because he felt it went against his Catholic faith. I respect his decision. But I don't really understand it. I am Catholic and have been a bridesmaid in my very good friend's wedding who was Jewish. I didn't think I was disrespecting anything. Instead I felt honored to be included. What do you think?
"Tom is a friend of mine. He is a big talent and has a great sensibility. I sang two small songs - one at the party for the dinner. (It was) a romantic, classic piece in Italian. I was not present at the (Scientology) ceremony because I'm Catholic. I didn't think it was respectful for my religion to be there."

I wish to hell that people would give up religion and just embrace God. Religion does nothing but separate us.

Absolutely, Bocelli's singing at a non-Catholic marriage ceremony would have shown disrespect for his Catholic Faith. It's simple: the two people he would have been honoring at the ceremony were two reared, fallen away Catholics who basically were saying to the Church,"We have so little respect for you that we're thumbing our nose right in your backyard, and also have the poor manners to ask an observing, devout Catholic to help us do it." God bless Andrea Bocelli.
