Ugly Betty Doesn't Have What It Takes To Be An Anorexic

Well, isn't THAT a funny way of talking about anorexia? America Ferrera admitted she wouldn't be able to commit to anorexia even if she wanted to (um... why would ANYONE want to).  Instead, the way she tries to keep in shape is heading to the gym when she can and staying on top of her weight when she feels like it. I think America doesn't have as much pressure to be thin as the rest of Hollywood because the role that has made her famous is depicting the average girl next door. HOWEVER, I wish more people in Hollywood took this lackadaisical approach to their fitness regime. There is too much expectation for the general public otherwise.
"There are times when I go to the gym and really try, and there are times when I just don't," the actress, who turns 23 on Wednesday, tells W magazine in its May issue. "I gain a pound; I lose a pound. But I think I've developed a really good sense of when I'm doing something for myself as opposed to when I'm doing something because of other people's expectations of me."
"And honestly, even if I wanted to be anorexic, I just don't have what it takes," she continues. "After four hours of being anorexic, I'd be like, `It's been four whole hours! Feed me!" (source)

It sounds like just about every female in Hollywood, the fashion industry, and the music industry feels pressure to be thin. Remember they wanted Norah Jones to lose some? Even Barbra Streisand gets hassled about it, and she seems to be semi-retired at this point.

I love food too! No way would I give it up! The key thing is to eat healthy and exercise. None of this starving stuff for me!

That was such a stupid comment.

I love her and she is a wonderful portrayal of how a real woman can not be supermodel skinny and still be sexy. Great role model for young girls!
