Barbara Walters Signing Copies of Her New Book, 'Audition: A Memoir'

Barbara Walters was looking beautiful as she signed copies of her new book, 'Audition: A Memoir" at the Barnes & Noble in NYC yesterday. I wanted to find out how old she is exactly and ended up finding that she has two recorded birth dates. Either way she's in her late 70's and in my opinion looks great. Has anyone read her book, or plan on it?I watched her on Oprah last night (viva la DVR!!)  and at some moments, she got me a little misty. Talking about her sister and how they told her she died seconds before throwing her on stage to give a speech, her relationship with Rosie, her hurt over the Star drama... it was all very REAL and HONEST. And HELLO - MARRIED MAN AFFAIR? What the heck was THAT? Blew. My. Mind.

The married man affair: I watched an interview on ABC last night and she said that he had a troubled marriage and in those days they did not believe in divorces. Even if you find her annoying, you've got to respect her game. She made way for all the women in that particular industry.

she is an old wrinkled face biznatch! she embarassed the family of the man she hussied it up with. she has a lisp too and sounds like elmer fudd from looney tunes....."you rascally rabbit"
she is sooooo annoying

Why bring up an affair from that long ago? No matter how the marriage was, that is a ground you just don't tread on. Pretty sure back then they didn't believe in marriage, but they didn't believe in adultry either.

Yeah, it's funny how money/publicity is the one thing that will cause famous people to voluntarily reveal their sexual indiscretions. And then the revel in it. Anything for attention (and money, of course).

If you want to weigh in on Bawa's actions, past and present, cast your vote in this fun Such a Cheater poll:

If she hadn't revealed the affair hardly anybody was going to read that book.

But on another note, she has had some GREAT surgery over the years. She must do very suble lifts and tucks. The hags from LA should come to NY to get their work done.

i am not a fan of star jones but for the first time i agree with her. bw went to an all time low jus to sell a d*** book. u think i would pegg myself as a whore to make a buck? even if he had a troubled marriage i really don't see what that had to do with her and him having affairs probably didnt help, either. i lost so much respect for this woman its sickening. they didn't believe in divorces but they believed in affairs. makes absolutely no sense. it's very tasteless to kiss and tell but to do it decades later.

Barbara did have a great career but I do not like her. She seems fake. And to the comment above, you can look as great at her age provided you will have tons of money and good plastic surgeon, unlike Joan Rivers, who light I add is nuts but I am sure is much better as a human being.

Barbara Walter's life was influenced greatly by her older sister and she's written a beautiful memoir about her life. I read another memoir of a life influence by a sibling that I recommend highly - I actually liked it even more. The memoir is ""My Stroke of Insight"" by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. Dr Taylor became a Harvard brain scientist to find the cause and cure for schizophrenia because her older brother was a sufferer. Then, crazy as life can be, Dr. Taylor had a stroke at age 37. What was amazing was that her left brain was shut down by the stroke - where language and thinking occur - but her right brain was fully functioning. She experienced bliss and nirvana and the way she writes about it (or talks about it in her now famous TED talk) is incredible. What I took away from Dr. Taylor's book above all, and why I recommend it so highly, is that you don't have to have a stroke or take drugs to find the deep inner peace that she talks about. Her book explains how. ""I want what she's having"", and thanks to this wonderful book, I can!
