Angelina Jolie Is Teaching Her Children French
To honor her late mother, Angelina Jolie is attempting to teach her children French. How wonderful! She claims that French is a second language in their home. I am assuming that means all of the help speaks French as Angelina admits she is learning herself.
"(French is) a second language in the house, although I’m still learning and am not going to attempt any of it here today. My children are starting to speak French, so being here is very good for them and their language."
That is a big regret of mine - not having learned another language (especially since I am first generation American and my entire house spoke Maltese). As soon as my life becomes more manageable, I plan on returning to an adult language class. Have any of you taken one and found success?
A friend of mine and I took Italian for a semester which was really wonderful. But then I got pregnant and was placed on bed rest. Needless to say that ride ended fairly quickly. :( But I loved every minute of it.

It's so much easier for kids to learn a new language than for adults. Good for those kids, I hope they also remember their mother tongue later.

THE YOUNGER THE KIDS THE EASIER IT IS FOR THEM TO PICK UP THE LANGUAGE. MY DAUGHTER SPOKE ITALIAN UNTIL SHE WAS 3 AND THAN PICKED UP ENGLISH SO EASILY. I FINALLY PUT HER IN DAYCARE WHICH WAS 100% FRENCH IN SEPTEMBER. IT TOOK HER 3 MONTHS AND SPEAKS FLUENTLY NOW, BETTER THAN ME TO TELL U THE TRUTH.
It's easier to start learning when you're younger. I learned english and german in school and that was a very good thing. I also learned italian and spanish by my own during highschool. But now I started to learn french and it's a little bit more difficult because I'm not a child anymore. But there's always hope.

Oh, I'm so glad that Angelina Jolie is teaching her brood to speak French. Please let us know when Angelina Jolie has a bowel movement; we're really that interested in her!

First of all she is a liar. Her mother is not French. She is an American...born in Chicago and grew up in Los Angeles. Her great grandfather was French Canadian. However, they are far from French as they couldn't prossibly be any more Americans, they grew up in a bowling alleys that her grandparents owned. I'm sure it's the nanny that are teaching them French (a little bit, but not much). Funny how she said "I'm learning, but I'm not going to attempt it today".

I always wished I knew a 2nd language fluently. I have thought about getting one of those computer courses you can get at Costco. I love french too, but I think spanish would be more practical.

Ok, I was referring to my own self and how I would use a 2nd language. Spanish would be more practical for ME not the Jolie-Pitts. I could care less what they do.

French is a more classy and cultural language than Spanish!! Also A lot of countries talk French.
It is not a new thing. French has been involved in the children's education previously, already. Why knock it? It's a good thing for the kids to learn. Who cares if it isn't Spanish? There are a LOT of useful languages out there today and saying Spanish outranks them is showing your own ignorance.

True that! Id like to know this: I live in AMERICA and yet people who dont speak any English (they only speak spanish) are driving!! Am I missing something? Either they are illegally driving or this system is Fed up in the fact that all road signs are in ENGLISH because it is AMERICA! LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH IF YOU COME TO AMERICA BECAUSE I AM SICK OF GETZTINZG SCREWED OVER BY ILLEGAL IMMAGZRANTS AND PPL WHO AREZ TOO DISREPECTFUL TO LEARN ENGLSIH!

I totally agree on that. As I said before: I live in Holland. We get a lot of immigrants here every year who lack to learn Dutch. It is absurd that they do not learn Dutch, because when I move to France I have to learn the language. But what is worse: some time ago they wanted the police in Holland to learn Turkish! WTF?! I can get so **** over that. Is this the same in the USA and G-B?
yes it is the same in AMERICA with Spanish! It is abolutely ridiculous and INSULTING! Everytime you call a company its "press 1 for English and press 2 for espanol" WTF??????????????????? This makes me so angry! AHHHHHHH If someone wants to come to America thats fine, but LEARN ENGLISH and PAY TAXES like every other hard working American citizen!
aint that the truth, I've read all your post and you sound very upset. Instead of getting so upset and having your blood pressure rise; learn spanish. It is so wonderful to know different languages. Take a trip to Spain or Mexico or any other country where spanish is the main language spoken. Next to English, Spanish is the number two most spoken language. It has nothing to do with immigrants coming to America; Spanish is spoken all over the world, just like English. Get yourself some CDs and learn another language; be passionate about something positive , instead of coming to a gossip blog site and sounding like a complete idiot. Muchas gracias.

Well so we should all learn Mandarin as it is the the 1rst languague most spoken language worldwide.
In Holland (I am Dutch) they wanted that the police would learn Turkish so they would understad the immigrants better. WHAT?! I am getting fed up with that kind of rubbish.
When and where will they ever use French? They live in France. Duh....
that is the worst picture of her i have ever seen. yay for her kids learning another language..but i think they should teach them their native languages too. but back to the photo...her hair is really matted and not "sleek" i only get to judge it, because I CAN ;)

Hi Vera :) I am Maltese too. There was an article about you last time on a newspaper mag :) Have been a fan of your website for a long time! I speak both Maltese and English, and have learnt some Italian while watching TV. I took French and German classes back in secondary school but I only remember a few words.
