Pete Wentz Defends Decision To Keep Pregnancy Quiet

"Every woman, no matter who they are or what they do for a living, has the right to wait at least three months before sharing this very personal news. We wanted to wait until after the first trimester before confirming anything, just like any other couple.
"Being a boy I have no idea how to respond to such things and my first instinct was to protect her and the baby.
"It’s insane that you can’t let happy news brew in Hollywood. This wasn’t about press or anything. It was about the health of the baby and trying to find a way to be happy with what should be the most happy time of our lives in the middle of a press blitz.
"I apologize to anyone who felt misinformed but the truth is, the person and growing baby is who I felt most loyal to protect and defend."

This is all a big joke to Ashley and Pete. I hope if hey are having a baby that it is STILL BORN. I know that's incredibly cruel, but so is leading people on for the sake of money and upping your career.

What is wrong with you! You obviously don't have any children, or know people who have miscarried. That first trimester is VERY personal, and know needs to know there business. I don't believe they didn't tell anyone to get more money. The health of a baby is very serious and shaking in those first few months. You are a horrible person, and I feel sorry that you even have those types of thoughts!
may God protect these people from people like you! how can you say that about a baby that hasn't done a thing wrong. i will pray for you!

I have a friend who just had a still born and I can tell you it's not something jock about or whatever... you're evil!!! Sorry all, I don't attack people but this person really **** me off.
Regardless of how you feel about this couple, you are correct in saying that it is a cruel thing to say, so maybe you should keep thoughts like this to yourself and get some therapy for your hate.

WHAT?!? Your comment is disgusting. Even if they toyed with the public for selfish reasons (which I'm not sure they did), why would you wish that one anyone especially an innocent baby?
what is WRONG with you??? what is it to you whether or not they confirm their baby news? they didn't "lead people on" - you're following celebrity gossip - if this actually hurts you to the point where you felt lead on and feel like they deserve to have a stillborn as a result, you need to get a life and go to therapy. and it's completely in their right to keep the matter private until after the first trimester - that's what most mothers do, famous or not....
that's just a very mean thing to wish upon anyone. the world will be a much better place if people like you can be deleted. or at least prevented from making such remarks.

He is ABSOLUTELY right. I thought it was pretty much understood that no one says too much first trimester. I know only my parents and closest girlfriends knew early on, but we never disclosed it to "the masses" until the 12-week mark.

What a shame that he felt he had to put out a statement like that, but good for him for standing up for his wife. The first trimester is all to important to let Hollywood put pressure on you...tsk tsk to the media for putting a young, married couple in this position...
The media didn't put Ashley and Pete in this position. They did it themselves, blame papa Joe Simpson too. They were asked by every media outlet are you pregnant? she kep playing coy and wouldn't answer, just like when she had her nose job, it was so obvious that she had a nose job. She kept milking it for all its worth. Deny, deny and her album sales were up. When are you people going to get it? these celebs rely on controversy to make money, the more controvery the more money. The public will not be interested in an artist, if the artist is not interesting, mysterious and controversial. Look at Angie and Brad. Ashley and her father love this attention. This bitch lives for it, she has not talent and she knows it. Getting pregnant is her last effort to have her album sales go up.
No matter what her intentions were (safety/privacy vs album sales) it was her decision! Why do you have the right to judge her for it?
Maybe she is just a really bad lier. Her Dad on the other hand - I wouldn't doubt him leaking things to the press. But no matter what... keeping it quite as long as they want is up to them!

I agree he doesn't have to apologize but when it comes to these two losers they are pathetic. Ashley and Pete, especially that no talent Ashley were milking this as much as they could. She had an album to promote so creating some controversy and having the press ask her constantly "are you pregnant" kept her no talent sorry ass in the tabloids. So sorry Ashley but it din't work, your album still sank you loser. Her father had alot to do with this, they wanted to keep the pregnancy private, but yet they splash their wedding pictures all over People. Shouldn't your wedding be kept private too? between your closest friends and family? what a loser this Assh@le Simpson chick is, desperate and no talent.
You know what. My sister-in-law told EVERYONE when she got pregnant. 2 weeks later she lost the baby and it was heart breaking. a few months later seeing people and they ask how the pregnancy is.. just broke her heart. Besides.. it is no ones buisness but theirs.
Most couples I know have waited to share the news until after the 3rd month because of the risk of miscarriage. It is hard to announce a miscarriage right after you have announced a pregnancy. It really is nobodies business. They were going to announce it when they were ready. Maybe Ashley's papa had a different idea.
They should have just said no, when the media asked instead of saying nothing.
If they had said NO then the media would've jumped all over them for lying.

I think the person who starts the rumors about their "publicity stunts" is Perez. I think these two are so down to earth and nice and normal and that just kills evil jerks like P.H. So, they use their wildly popular sites to spread nasty and hateful rumors. People give that guy wayyy too much power. I'm so happy for Pete & Ashlee. That is one lucky baby!
