PETA Offers Sharon Stone A Free Brain Scan

PETA Offers Sharon Stone A Free Brain Scan

It's always shock value with PETA isn't it? I understand the group wants to get some press time to help their cause, but isn't there another way? The animal rights group People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are offering Sharon Stone a free brain scan... in an effort to improve her compassion.

PETA President Ingrid Newkirk has written to the movie star, suggesting her refusal to stop wearing fur and recent ill-advised comments she made about the Chinese earthquake could be symptoms of an underdeveloped brain.

In her letter, Newkirk writes,

"Given that millions of people… were killed, injured, and left homeless by the recent earthquake in China, everyone was shocked to hear you dismiss the devastating effects of this disaster. However, your cavalier attitude did not come as a surprise to us. We are used to the indifference that you flaunt and the callous remarks that you make about the suffering and death of the animals whose fur you wear so often.

"Scientific studies suggest that the prefrontal regions of the brains of people who lack empathy might be underdeveloped. Here’s our offer: Would you allow PETA to pay for a scan of the prefrontal region of your brain to determine if comments and actions that seem to demonstrate a lack of empathy are the result of a physical defect?"

In case you forgot, Sharon suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2001 but has since fought her way back to health.

Ingrid is the one that needs compassion. She was once quoted as saying that she would get to work early and kill animals with her own hands. PETA KILLS. they really could care a less about animals. all they want is their name in the paper. people should support organizations that truly help animals. ASPCA, HUMANE SOCIETY, ETC.

Not a fan of Sharon, but that's just plain viscious to use her previous illness in that way. Like PETA really cares about helping her, give me a break....................It's sad that something noble (helping animals) is being run by sickos like this, instead of helping the cause, they drive people away with their over-the-top tactics.

Amazing that these nutballs at PETA claim to care so much about animals, but treat human beings so inhumanely. Sharon, like all of us, has the right to wear fur, eat meat, and do whatever else she wants to do as long as it doesn't violate any laws in this country. I boycott all projects from any actress who has ever sided with PETA (although most of them are such bimbos that they don't have any worthwhile movies, etc., anyway). People can torture an animal and everyone cries and gets all worked up and calls news conferences. But someone can kill a baby for crying too much, and you just keep channel surfing...no big deal.

I love animals tremendously, but I can assure you that the death of a child has an equal emotional effect on me. It's that whole abuse of the most vulnerable members of society that I find really troublesome. I just think that we have this moral responsibility to take care of creatures who need us (whether they're housecats or babies) if we can. Wearing fur indicates that you're greedy and lack compassion. There are synthetic versions available for far cheaper, and no one has to be ANALLY ELECTROCUTED or SKINNED ALIVE in the process. Period.

Whatever. I agree that PETA uses extremist tactics, but fur is absolutely evil, and if they don't call this crazy ho out for wearing it, who will? I think the letter's funny. Sorry, but I don't feel sorry for Sharon one bit. I actually wish her coats would come alive and maul her to death. She deserves it. I HATE people who promote animal abuse, and when you flagrantly wear fur, that's EXACTLY what you're doing.

I agree with you 100%. They [PETA] can be a bit cuckoo, but I'm a member and a vegan. I can understand if you're not willing to give up meat or dairy, but wearing fur is just disgusting. First off, how is it even appealing? Wearing the skin of an animal...I guess I never got it. I don't even think it looks good (not even faux fur). With her millions of dollars, I'm sure she can afford a very nice synthetic coat. I don't pity Ms. Stone in the least.

Thanks. It's nice to know that other people aren't flippant about animal welfare! I've gotta tell you that I admire vegans SO MUCH. I'm a vegetarian, personally, but veganism is a whole other level of discipline! It was incredibly easy for me to give up meat, but cheese...oh, man. I don't know if I could ever give up cheese.

I'm also a vegan and a hater of PETA. They give us a bad name, and this is just ridiculous and hurtful. Insulting people is not how you get them to pay attention to your cause. By the way, I thought I could never give up cheese, but I only was really tempted for like a week. I'm totally over cheese now, and I really think you should go for it. Don't let dairy hold you back!

"It's nice to know that other people aren't flippant about animal welfare!" What about people who are flippant about human suffering? Your comment about wanting SS to be mauled was uncalled for. We should respect all living creatures, not just animals.

I still mean it. And I don't respect Sharon Stone, and I really don't see why she should be afforded my respect in the first place, given the fact that she's only famous because she flashed her vadge in a glorified soft-core porn.

hope her fur comes alive and eats her -- lol. good one Ernestine. I'm not a peta member, but sharon has wore fur coat after fur coat. thousands of dead animals for her crazy ass to walk down a red carpet in warm LA. Someone should take a strong stance against her kind-- if not just to save the next herd of animals going to the electric chair for ****'s sake.

I understand that PETA is all about being passionate but their tactics turn me off. I don't wear fur because I don't see the point. However, fanaticism - even in the name of a good cause- always rubs me the wrong way. I just tune them out.

Ernestine, people like YOU deserve to be "anally electrocuted," as another poster said about fur-bearing animals, for thinking that it is in any way okay to harrass, threaten, or annoy another human being who is not violating any laws. Human beings are above animals, whether you like it or not, and we have the right to eat and/or wear them if that is what we choose to do. If you choose not to, fine. But you don't have any right whatsoever to say that you wish a fur would come alive and eat Sharon Stone...or that it's okay to make fun of someone who had a life-threatening brain surgery. You and all the nutballs at PETA are the ones who need brain surgery. Pull your head out of your a** and grow up.

No, see, I DO have the right to say that. First Amendment! And you have the right to be a complete ****. It's a great country. Happy Independence Day!

Oh please, will you READ what you're saying??!! Completely talking out of your ass, and making no sense!! You say we have rights above animals, we do but we SHOULDNT, and then, my personal favourite: "But you don't have any right whatsoever to say that you wish a fur would come alive ..." Tsk tsk tsk... VERY poor choice of words. Umm, yes, they clearly do!! Right to free speech if i recall! Wearing fur is NOT something that we should have the right to do, as it does not benefit us in any way and in the process kills animals. YOU need the brain scan if you think that sounds acceptable, and i think YOU should be locked up for it. God help any animals that should cross your path. "Humans are above animals." YOU'RE PATHETIC! And by the way, PETA may be extremists, but at least they're doing SOMETHING, even if all they are doing is raising attention to the issues of animal cruelty and abuse.

PETA always take it too far. I think wearing fur is completely and utterly disgusting and really have no respect for Sharon Stone as she chooses to wear it, but to send that type of message is just inappropriate, insensitive and pretty much harassment; ESPECIALLY as Sharon Stone suffered in 2001. PETA is a joke, they're just so crude.
