Maggie Gyllenhaal refuses to give into the media circus that follows when you become a celebrity. In fact, the actress says she won't read any articles or look at any pictures taken of her in order to maintain her sanity. I think it's great that she is strong enough to avoid. I wouldn't be able to do the same. What is it they say about curiosity?:)
"The amount of scrutiny can be unbearable. It’s sometimes really hurtful. I’ve decided, in order to protect myself, that I’m not going to look at any pictures (of myself) or to pay attention to anything anyone says about me."
I think it is so unfortunate. She should be advised of this site... great pics and good, honest chat. I mean, what's the point of getting all glammed up if you cant look at yourself! :-)

Smart move. I wouldn't care about a bunch of loser saying I'm ugly too.

In all fairness Maggie is not exactly weekly tabloid fodder. Ok this week she is promoting the movie, but usually she isn't one of the hot ticket items that the tabloids chase after, so it wouldn't be too difficult of a task for her to avoid that end of the spotlight.

agree with Audrey... shouldnt be too hard for her not to read or listen to what people say, i dont think anyone really follows her career or personal life. I dont think anyone would noticed if she fell off the radar.

She's right. Especially when you see some of the stuff people write about her. If I was famous I wouldn't do it either, I mean, I could care less what people think of me, especially on those celeb sites that slag them off.

I kind of feel bad for her. If she was prettier, ( nose job) she would not be hated so much. Thats not right. But in Hollywood, what is?

if she was "prettier" she would look just like any other brainless plastic barbie.

I absolutely love her! Nosejob? WTF? What is wrong with you people? She is a beautiful, talented woman and I for one DO follow her career and have ever since I first saw her (I think it was in Donnie Darko).

I agree, I DONT think she should change. BUT her not being a plastic barbie is the reason she gets crap. NOT from I, but many other posters on all sites. I personally like her acting as well.. Read before replying.
she is so stunning it hurts me a little

Sounds like a pretty level-headed, sensible attitude. Good on her.
Hold on for a moment, hasn't she said just recently that she was deeply hurt or something by the comments fashion editors wrote about her sense of style? She said something along the terms of her actually trying hard and being heartbroken when the fashions mags weren't impressed with her fashion ideas????
