Am I the only one that didn't know this? I understand the song is old, but I just had to post this. I mean, JOEY from Full House?! Going down in a theatre? Are you thinking of me when you ... ?
JOEY?!
Yes, I've been under a rock. But for those of you who have comfortably been sharing the space with me: Alanis Morissette wrote 'You Oughta Know' about David Coulier from Full House. Read the lyrics with this new information and see it in a whole new light.
Here he is talking about figuring it all out himself.
"(When I first heard the song) I said, ‘Wow, this girl is angry,’And then I said, ‘Oh man, I think it’s Alanis.’ I listened to the song over and over again, and I said, ‘I think I have really hurt this person.’"
"We saw each other and hung out for an entire day. And it was beautiful. It was one of those things where it was kind of like, ‘We’re good.’"

"You Oughta Know"
I want you to know, that I'm happy for you
I wish nothing but the best for you both
An older version of me
Is she perverted like me
Would she go down on you in a theatre
Does she speak eloquently
And would she have your baby
I'm sure she'd make a really excellent mother
Cause the love that you gave that we made wasn't able
To make it enough for you to be open wide, no
And every time you speak her name
Does she know how you told me you'd hold me
Until you died, till you died
But you're still alive
And I'm here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It's not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
You seem very well, things look peaceful
I'm not quite as well, I thought you should know
Did you forget about me Mr. Duplicity
I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner
It was a slap in the face how quickly I was replaced
Are you thinking of me when you **** her
Cause the love that you gave that we made wasn't able
To make it enough for you to be open wide, no
And every time you speak her name
Does she know how you told me you'd hold me
Until you died, til you died
But you're still alive
And I'm here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It's not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
Cause the joke that you laid on the bed that was me
And I'm not gonna fade
As soon as you close your eyes and you know it
And every time I scratch my nails down someone else's back
I hope you feel it...well can you feel it
And I'm here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It's not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
I'm with you Vera! I had no idea, but remember listening to this song in high school and thinking - yeah she's ****
David is re-hashing this to get publicity. This news came out years ago before Alanis started dating Ryan Reynolds.
Honestly I can't ever remember her saying yes or no...I thought it was always just an unconfirmed bit of gossip. ~~ Word to Your Mother ~~

OMG.. I had no idea. I LOVE this song. When I'm in my angry "female dog" mood, I always put in this CD. I was just telling my daughter about this song, and about Alanis' stage in life when she was an angry girl. She is a passionate woman, I love that you can feel that in her music. Thanks for the info!
well i didn't know either. JOEY?!?? Well god. I wish it was someone hotter she was singing about. Changes my outlook on the song. But LOVE her!!

Really??? You people didn't know that?? I thought that was just common knowledge by now. lol.
OLD NEWS. lame. everyone knows this already.
*yawn* this is really old news.....
haha, Vera you MIGHT just be the only one. It's ok though, seriously...are we really in the "need to know" about this? I truely would rather know who was "so vain" in Carly Simon's song. She swears it's not Warren Beaty - so who?
BrowserAug 15, 2008 @ 10:06 am
"You're So Vain" was about James Taylor. He was very cocky, very arrogant, and he hurt Carly Simon big time.
"You're So Vain" is about Warren Beatty.
I didn't know either- and I'm glad you enlightened me!! Joey- how rude!
Old, OLD news!
This is OLD OLD OLD news! I didn't know that there was anyone left on that planet that didn't now this! =D
lol yup I knew it and was just as shocked as you are. Is this a current pic of him? Hes looking good ! EDIT - and I forgot to say, OMG that has to be the BEST scorned woman song ever !

It may be old news but he was just talking about it in an interview, which is why it's "news" again. I'm like you Vera, I had no clue. LOL It's hilarious, though, because he is NOT someone I could imagine her with! And that HE cheated/dumped whatever. Yes, Jan, THE best scorned woman song ever!! :D

DUH! What rock have you all been hiding under? Not that he isn't using it for publicity.....but *DUH*.
It was old news years ago. How is it that you missed it? *lol*
#1 - their relationship is old news and the song's old, but this was a recent interview, and if you go on any other celebrity gossip blogs its on all of them this week. #2 - totally with alanis on this one.

Wow, well, I must be one of those people living under a rock because I didn't know either. And to the person who said this was from Alanis' angry CD, well that's totally wrong. Most of the songs from that CD are positive and optimistic: "All I Really Want", "Hand in My Pocket", "You Learn", "Hand Over Feet".
Occasional VisitorAug 15, 2008 @ 11:31 am
It's "Head over Feet" =)
All this time I thought she said "crossed eyed bear that you gave to me" Learn something new.
Seriously laughing out loud at that!!!

I didn't know, but I've never even seen full house. I LOVE that song.
Occasional VisitorAug 15, 2008 @ 11:41 am
Would she go down on you in a theater? interesting! Actually that is more info than I need regarding Uncle Joey. Who knew?
Semi ObsessedAug 15, 2008 @ 11:43 am
Indeed, very old news. It is funny how many people haven't heard this before though. I do think it is odd that he is just bringing this up again now. Weird. When I originally heard about this I could not fathom Joey from Full House (it's so funny how many ppl call him Uncle Joey because that wasn't his name haha almost everyone I know calls him Uncle Joey) could be the person the song was referring to. So crazy.
Semi ObsessedAug 15, 2008 @ 12:16 pm
GOOD JOB NOW FIND OUT WHO THE WOMAN WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Crawling out from under my rock to say, didn't know either. Uncle Joey!
"Of the cross I bear that you gave to me" Did he give her herpes. I wonder.....
That is what I always took that to mean. Old, old news. Now if one of them admits which permant STD the "cross" is, then that should be news. I assumed herpes.
