Gwen Stefani Designs Uniforms For W Hotels

Gwen Stefani has announced that she will be coming out with a line of work-wear exclusively for W Hotels. Starting this fall, female staff members at the W hotel's Living Room lounges throughout the country will be wearing the custom L.A.M.B. design by Gwen. Her design is not only fashionable, but functionable for the active employees. Gwen says

“I wanted to design a super cute dress that I would be excited to have in my own closet and approached it in the same way I think about my clothing for a tour. We’ve designed a sexy and comfortable outfit for these women to wear out on their own stage every night.”

People.com has pictures of the design. What do you think of Gwen's new fashion venture?

''sexy and comfortable''. I would definitely stay away from word sexy for hotel employees as it is highly unprofessional. Attractive, fashionable, yet practical are more like it. Many times hotel employees and staff have to walk empty hallways and I would hate to wear ''sexy'' things. I used to work at the Sheraton Hotel as a manager of housekeeping and then front desk. Sexy is not what hotel employee has in mind.

btw, the dress is way too short (it should be slightly above the knee), I am not sure about that vent on the side. Once you sit down your whole thigh will be visible. Bust is OK but nothing special. It reminds me of early stuardess (now glight attendant) dress. 3 out of 5. I can do better than Glen.

Honestly, and maybe I'm just old, I don't think its really appropriate. I would prefer some modern suit approach, this almost looks cocktail dressishy!

I"m not sure how appropriate it is and i would think that only younger women working there would be excited about this idea. To be honest though if I had to wear a uniform for work it's not a bad way to go.

I love Gwen AND her style, but I also find it offensive when women are just expected to wear dresses and skirts to work, rather than pants -- which are ultimately more comfortable and practical. And, yeah, that style is pretty unforgiving. Did the hotel's employees have a say in this? Ha ha. Yeah, RIGHT.

I love Gwen and she's got great style ideas but her clothes arent really wearable for women of full figure or of color. Stick thin white girls i suppose. **Insert Witty Comment**

if you had ever stayed at the W you would know that it is probably totally appropriate. it is a young hip hotel with a really stylish vibe. i think the dress is cute, and it doesn't hurt to have on something a little sexy. helps with the tips.

Those will fit the women that work there, it is a swanky-style glamourous help type of place. Old? Fat? They don't even apply for these jobs.

Gilian - I totally agree! I stayed in a W Hotel in January and this dress completely fits the vibe of the place! Most of the people I saw working there were incredibly fashion-forward and pretty. The Living Lounge atmosphere screams for something like this. On a related note: the staff at the hotel were the most wonderful, accomodating and helpful I've ever encountered! I heart W Hotels.

to tell you the truth I don't find it that sexy....it look like something I'd wear to bed (except for the high heels of course).

Although, I wouldn't wear that... let me tell you... I work at a Hilton hotel (Homewood Suites) and our uniforms are the UGLIEST things ever! We wear knee-length wool skirts, a GOLD color polyester shirt, wool jacket and gold scarf... yuck... We had the owners' son working here over the summer, and when we told him to tell his dad the uniforms are ugly, he said that he already had, and his dad said it was gold or peach! Ugh, maybe we should try and get ahold of Gwen...

Since the loung employees are supposed to wear sexy outfits I don't see a problem with the length and amount of skin showing. What I don't like is that the dress really isn't sexy...it looks very boring...I would just expect something much cuter from Gwen.
