GASP! {{{faint}}} GASP! Can it be? Oh the humanity!
Why on EARTH are people still trying to hide the fact that Anne Hathaway smokes? The actress has graduated from the Disney Princess leads and Brokeback-ed her way into a whole different genre of mature films. Yet, her team is insisting Anne keep her nasty little smoking habit out of the public eye. Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating Anne sign up to be the new face of Marlboro... but she's an adult now isn't she?
Anne Hathaway kept nipping out for secret cigarettes at the Hollywood Life House at the Toronto Film Festival. A spy says, "Her people don't want anyone to know she smokes."Do you think if she publically smoked, it would change the type of offered roles?

oh please, every woman in hollywood smokes. they do it because it helps you lose weight or stay thin by supressing your apettite, and then they become addicted. sad but true. every my own mother who has a PhD smokes to stay thin.

if this is true...how disappointing. you don't need to smoke to stay thin. what's wrong with exercising and eating right?
Yup, my MIL who is 76 and a size two is obsessed with her weight, food intake, and yes, she smokes to keep her weight down. I know I weighed less when I smoked. But as my Dr said, we all look slim in a casket.
With everyone so against smoking now days, it might change the image she has. Like she's a sinner or evil because she smokes!
Well I doubt it will change anything about the roles she gets but I'm a little disappointed to hear that she smokes. I mean she can do what she wants but she seems so classy most times and smoking to me is such a dirty and trashy habit. Not to mention it will KILL you!!
It won't affect the roles that she's offered but gossip jerks like Perez would post nasty stuff all the time..like he does with Katherine Heigl. Anne's "people" must think we'd love her less. I am an ex-smoker who would never be so hypocritical as to judge her for a habit like this. It's so icky but I miss it so much. Gross, I know.

I kinda like the fact that she hides that she smokes. The kiddos that followed her movies surely don't need to see her smoking. To each their own, smoke if you want but bravo to her for not putting it out there for all to see :)
with all her money, she wears these black ugly depressing clothes. They might be high fashion but I see so many nice clothes on the runway and the stars pick the ugliest!

Honestly, if this is the most "dirt" people can come up with on this woman then who cares! At least people aren't shopping a sex tape or picture of her doing smack! I'm ok with it if she smoke. :)
As an ex-smoker, I won't judge her. There's much worse stuff to be doing these days.

Wow. Vera you're usually pretty cool, but that seems a little below the belt. You purposely posted something you knew she wanted kept quiet. I guess that's what the world wants though and as long as you earn a paycheque doing it then it works... Sad though.
She's an adult who choses to smoke. It's not the smartest choice to make, but as long as she doesn't blow her smoke my way I don't really care. I'm not sure why anyone else does.

when i smoked cigarettes my body was the same weight wise as now, it had no impact on my weight or even any of my smoker friends weights when they quit or smoked. i would think you would have to be smoking an awful lot for it to help keep you thin...also smoking a little crack or something too.
OMG, she must be evil. One of my daughters teachers actually said only drug dealers and criminals smoke cigarettes. So of course, she asks her grandmother, grandma are you a drug dealing criminal? I mean, in California I think you arent even allowed to smoke in a lot of places OUTSIDE. I cant blame her for hiding it. Im sure Rude People would say things right to her face since she is a celebrity. Smoking is almost as bad as being FAT!

"A spy said"...? Really? A SPY? Who found out an adult chooses to smoke?? Wow, America... I love my American friends but "Americans", as an abstract entity, give me a fright at times. The whole country comes to a halt when a boob is flashed, you spent loads of money and time discussing someone's sex life, which really is no one's business regardless of what their job is, teachers are fired because they - *GASP* - took their pupils to a Rodin exhibition and OH THE NUDITY, corrupted forever. And then, shocker, children end up experiencing their sexuality in all the wrong ways. This abstract entity can be self-rightous and self-centred as bloody hell. I live in a country where we had an atheist for President and no one cared as long as he did his job, women topless on the beaches and boobs and bums are shown on the telly and our children don't turn into perverts, women breastfeed in public - or not at all and they are NOT judged and parents drink alcohol with meals or outside of them and surprise, children don't turn into alcoholics. I have also seen footage of college parties, with the keg drinking and the stupourous drunken sex. It all really makes you think. And you know, I worked with exchange students for almost a decade and because adolescents can buy beer the ones that got **** the moment they landed unless we kept a tight watch were always the Americans. They were also generally disruptive, disrespectful and never bothered to learn the language or the cultural rules bcs hallo, english and the US rule all. They would always express surprise over us having an airport and cereal and, at one unforgettable time, not cooking in cauldrons. CAULDRONS. Then they grow up to be the sort of people who comment on forums, when an European dares to voice an opinion about the presidency race and say "It's none of your business" - well, guess what, what happens in the US affects the whole world. Your President is, in a way, our President, we all suffer the consequences, and to even be able to say that is proof that, for the most part, America stares at its belly-button and doesn't care what goes on outside its borders, and it's a big, big world out there. Those of you who worry about a grown woman smoking?? Shame on you.
She got it from doing the film 'Rachel getting married', where she plays a person's who's been in and out of rehab... i really hope she manages to quit (she does too) but in the mean time, she's still an awesome actress.. ^^
I'm not going to lie, I'd love her to blow smoke in my face.
