Vin Diesel Names His Daughter Hania Riley

Vin Diesel’s choice of baby name has made it to press. Hania Riley is what he chose with the help of girlfriend Paloma Jimenez for their baby girl. What do you think about Hania?

  6. my daughter is 4, her name is Victoria Princess…..Victoria for one of my little cousins who passed away in a house fire, and cuz my husband loved the name, and princess because when i was in 6th grade i said i was going to name my daughter Princess Azure…..(lol, Azure is weird but i liked it) I debated on princess, but after she was born, there was no question, and i worried shed get made fun of in school, but now that shes started, no one even knows her middle name because she doesn’t even want to be called Tori, but Victoria……

    My son is 7 months, and despite everyone wanting me to name him Valentin, (he was born feb 14) we went with Elias Roberto……My first name is Elida (after my grandmother) and Roberto is my husbands first name. He is called Eli. =)

We are going to name our kids Kosette Marie (Cosette is from Les Miserables, which I LOVE, but with a K because my husbands’ initials are KK, and Marie is my Great Grandmothers’ name, and I like how it flows) and for a boy, right know, my husband, Kelly is liking the name Kassius, and I like the name Kale. Eric will be the middle name to honor Kellys’ best friend that died in an accident 3 years ago.

  13. I like the name Hania. It’s not that common in the us. I have three girls. Gabryelle Jaqlynn, Callysta Nicole and Mia Nachelle.

    Gabyrelle means Gift from God.
    Callysta is greek for beautiful
    Mia means mine in spanish.

    So I have My three most beautiful gifts from God!!!

    • x a To as lo have two great talented avant garde hoppa boys. I am from Europe the father is Asian. That makes for a very good look. WHat can I say! They are getting pretty handsome. Joshua Evan is 13 and Jason Eren is 11. Jason Eren is musically inclined self taught very good. Definitely dedicated. The instrument is a part of his being, like an extra limb! I’ll keep him exposed to it all music,dance,theatre,the great classics and of course art.the world of art meaning the painters.And then he can take to whatever areas he wants as long as he is exposed to it and taught about it and the history. HE is a funny,deep kid…he gets it and I am so lucky to have him, Joshue Evan 13, he is quite unique to say the least! He scares the he’ll out of me he is so intelligent but in a very cool way, this kid always gets straight a’s, he is in jr high but goes to the high school for half his classes. He is just super smart….where in the heck did that came from ?..and now he’s made a couple let’s say mini movies for some of his assignments I’m talking sound effects music special effects etc I watch in awe at what my beautiful boys have done I must admit some of it is over my head, it is all done with humor.JOshua may be a brainiac But he has got the coolest sense he just gets it when his buddies are clueless as to some things Joshua and I are rolling,I don’t know why I posted this, not to toot my or my 2sons horns, I think maybe to encourage parents to open that world to you kids,,expose them to everything you can. They might fight for a bit but I promise you be a little firm,,,play all different types of music around them and dance you dontbhave to be good

  17. I have an Alexandra, an Anthony, and a Paxton. All named for royalty throughout the ages…LOL. And each name has particular meaning that for me, was very personal and applied to my feelings during the pregnancy. “Defender” “Worthy” and “Peace”

  18. If I ever have kids, I would go for more unique names. My first pick for a girl would be either Ava or Sienna, even though those seem to be more popular these days. My first pick for a boy would be Madden, even though everyone seems to think of football or shoes when i bring that name up :) I also like Jack for a boy, and Grace, Anja (pronounce An-ya), or Eva for a girl.

  26. My kids have pretty traditional names. Megan, Hannah & Owen. I don’t mind names that are a bit obscure in the US (like Hania…it might be traditional in the Ukraine, but not so much here) as long as they’re legitimate names. I can’t stand made-up names. There are so many lovely ones to choose from, I just don’t get it.

  31. We’re using the initials of our names to come up with our kids names. Sounds very cute! For them it would be like M(vin diesel) P(paloma) = Mabel Padma. It would mean the Lovable Lotus.

    For my future kids i like:
    girls: Kylin Michelle, Peyton Loria, and i don’t know the first name but i like Coray or Liela for a middle name.
    Boys: Keagan Nathanael, Dominic James, and Bentley Tyler.
    I like unique names but some common names just flow.

    My husband and I chose names we found in Bruse Lansky’s 100,000+ baby names book and we just really liked them. Really really liked them :)

  50. Cadence Anne and Hudson Avery. Those are my two faves for kids I’ll hopefully have someday. Cadence, Cady for short, for Elizabeth Cady Stanton, a foundational woman in the progress thats known as the womens suffrage movement. And Anne because it’s my mothers middle name. Hudson for Henry Hudson the ship captain, and Avery because it just makes the name.

  52. Savannah Grace, Noah Jackson, Matthew Sean Steven, Italia Faith, Amelia Luisa, Massimo Manuel, Elenor Louise, Henry Louis, Anthony Dominick.

    Amelia is a great aunt, Louise was my grandmothers middle name, Anthony is my fathers middle name, Sean is my brothers name, Manuel is my grandfathers name.

    I am Italian so thats where we got Italia and Massimo.

    Grace and Faith for my Italian uber Catholic family.

    And the rest are just names I love.

    Emma Grace
    Delaney Hope – we went for more insiperation middle names only because we have done in vitro fertilization and i was once pregnant but then lost the baby at 6 weeks. so after having no more embryos we are trying it again.. from the start.. so its taken a lot of praying….

    Boys:
    Brayden Lee (lee after my passed grand father)
    Aiden Robert (robert after my husbands middle and his passed fathers)

    i want 4.. but ill be happy with 1 right now!

  82. this is a great post – I love hearing the names (btw everyone should read freakanomics – a great chapter comparing names with social and economic position the kids are born into (ie poor families seem to love the names Brittny and Tiffany)). Very interesting.

    We like Brady (cuz we are big football fans, although not Pats fans…), Stella, and Chelsea.

    chelsea is a mash b/w my hubbies granparents names – Charles and Elsie. how cool is that!

Boys: Lachlan James, Nathaniel (Nate) Cale, Chet and Declan. If its a boy it will be Wade Morrissey, Wade from the movie Cry Baby (a favorite in my house) and Morrissey because my husband is obsessed with the smiths and Morrissey.   119. My sons names are Jonah Joaquin and Ethan Miguel. Jonah was the name that both my husband and I fell in love with after watching “sleepless in seattle”. Joaquin came from the actor Joaquin Phoenix and also my husbands cousin named Patrick Joaquin. Ethan was a name my husband picked out and I liked, probably the only one we could agree on at that time. And same with Miguel. Since my family is latin, I wanted the boys to have american sounding names with spanish middle names. Now I am 6 months pregnant and we are stuck. We know we are having another boy but we have no idea what to name him. I liked the name Dylan, but I feel like its used too much.

  121. I have a boy and a girl. My daughter’s name is Ella-Bleu AnnMarie. Ella is a family name and I wanted to just name her Bleu but my husband wouldn’t let me so I saw this in a name book and LOVED it. AnnMarie is a combo of my middle name and my husband’s sister’s middle name. My son is Dublin Rhys Daniel. Dublin because it is slightly unusual but not too unusual and my husband is irish. Daniel after my grandfather who passed and for some reason a week before he was born I saw the name Rhys EVERYWHERE and I loved it. Celtic and Beautiful.. I would love another daughter who I (currently) want to name Francesca Hope (after the book Hope was Here) and call her Frankie. No idea for a another boy but maybe Griffon……

There are days where I have wondered if I should have named her Hanna Riley, and even Brooklyn Kate, But I guess we name our kids and know that that is the name we love most. Catherine is my husband’s grandmothers name but we wanted a more modern spelling and then my sister (Renai) and sister in law (Renee) so we took the “a” from my sister and the “e” from his sister to get our spelling.

  146. I just came across this, my husband and I named our daughter Hania. She was born in 2006 and we named her after the capital of Crete. We vacationed there in 2005 and I’m sure people can put 2 and 2 together. I love the name though and we get a lot of complement on it. My niece is name Riley so I like what Vin Diesel chose for his daughter. But I guess I’m a bit biased!

  152. The ‘babies’ in my life are- Matthew Jason, Benjamin Richard, Donald David, Michael Austin and Porfirio Joseph Lee, Kyra Faith and Noah James….. some are quite ‘normal’ names but I feel they are all strong ones.

  154. My son is named Alexander Joseph ..Alexander because I have always wanted to name my first child Alexander/Alexandra and Joseph is the middle name of all the males on his father’s side.

    I don’t know a first name for a girl anymore but the middle name will be Elizabeth (that might get bumped to a first name…gotta worry about that if/when the time comes)

    I like Hania personally. I am a fan of names that are less common (although it appears Hania is more common in some places than in others)

  158. If I should ever have children, I’m very partial to French names. Etienne, Emanuel, or Thierry for a boy and Eugenie for a girl. Unique in the U.S. at any rate. I also love ancient Roman names for a boy like Felix or Rex (very partial to names with ‘x’ in it).

    I used to love the name Aidan, but everybody and their mother is naming their child (boys and girls) Aidan. Same with Max. There have been a few names I used to love but will now never name my children because they will be one of the dime-a-dozen kids with that name.

My husband Jay and I are expecting our first child together (he has an 8 year old from his first marriage) and we have decided that if we have a daughter her first and middle name will be Janelle Ava or if we have a son his name will be Leo after his late father (Dominic will be the middle name).

  166. I named my daughter Tyonna Gabriella pronounced the same way it is spelled. If I were to have another child I would name the girl Evelyn Cheyanne boy Harold Robert
    Evenlyn is my partners Mom name and Harold is his name LOL go figure
    If it were up to me I would name girl Melana Cheyanne and the boy Phoneix Lucian I know I know a tad weird but all in all sounds great with the last name Gadsden….Dare to dream =)

If it’s a girl I will name it Mahinarangi (Maori name) It was meant to be mine but I got this one instead and if it’s a boy I might name it Dimitri or Atreyu. Love those names. I love some of the names on here, especially the middle named combinations, really beautiful.

  189. I do like the sound of Hania, not so sure Riley is a great choice for middle name but I suppose it works. I have one kiddo and he has traditional name after my brother who died at age 13 from cancer. I searched every bible and baby book and website to find a UNIQUE spelling and well came up with this spelling on my own, as it was not listed anywhere….. KRYSTOFER YASIN JOSEPH. And when I have my next (fingers crossed that it is a girl) her name will be Devyn Odessa or Indica Yasmin. cool huh?!!

  192. I love unusual, pretty first names with more traditional, elegant middle names. My four beautiful girls are Aurora Elizabeth, Alanna Katherine, Daphne Alexandra, and a five-week old named Melody Louise. Aurora is for my Great-Grandmother, Ora. Katherine is my mother’s middle name. Louise is my middle name but she is actually named this for my grandmother who passed away last April. Melody was a compromise with my husband because the three older girls and I all wanted to name her Arabella.

  203. Yay for kids named Cole! My baby boy is Cole Brian. Cole is my maiden name and there are no boys in my family. I have known that my boy would be named Cole since I was about 3 years old…no jokes. His middle name is Brian, after my husband’s late father….its really special to my husband that we included it. Last name is Norman. I really like the flow of the 3 names, they sound very strong, its just unfortunate that they are all ‘first names’, its very easy for people to mix them around.

Arwen Bree (huge Tolkien fan, I said I would name a girl this if I ever had one in high school), Logan Phoenix (husband is huge X-Men fan – Logan for Wolverine and Phoenix for Dark Phoenix), Vincent Alexander (Vincent is an old family name, as is Alexander) and Annabel Lee (I think this is obvious but if not, I love Edgar Allan Poe) are the names of my little hellions ;) And I love Hania Riley, very pretty!

  213. Alyssa Lanai (La-Nay), middle name for my sister who’s birthday was my due date, and Evelyn Nichole, middle name for my husband and my best friends, both of whom were named Nicholas. If we have another girl, she would be Isadore or Isabelle Patricia, second name for my husband’s brother, Patrick. None of the names are uncommon, just not as common as they used to be.

My son’s name is Ananda because in sanskrit it means Bliss. Also anandamine is the receptor that binds to THC in your brain. Galileo is because we always want him to seek the truth.
