Natalie Cole Undergoes Kidney Transplant

Singer Natalie Cole has been on kidney dialysis three times a week since last September while on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. She suffers from Hepatitis C. Natalie reportedly received a kidney from the regional organ procurement agency, One Legacy. Natalie said she "wasn’t looking forward" to the surgery but had accepted it.
‘Things happen for a reason, I’ve always been kind of a survivor type of girl,’ she said. ‘I’m strong, I have a lot of faith. I’m looking forward to having a good year. In spite of the health issues, I think I’m going to be fine.’ "
Physicians have reportedly advised Natalie to postpone her summer tour dates for the Still Unforgettable tour so she can recuperate.
Hopefully that recuperation will go smoothly!

Natalie received her kidney because it was decided by the family of the Donor that she get it(Donor Designated). Hep C is not an automatic rule out to either receive or donate organs. I hope that Natalie and all recipients appreciate their second chance at life. What a great way to honor their Donors!

i didn’t realize it was possible to buy organs…i thought you had to get on a donor list unless somebody you know donates one specifically for you….
Where does it say she bought a kidney? She got it from the agency that organizes organ donation for that area of the country, One Legacy.
Geez, some people need to brush up on their reading skills!
I was going to say the same until I realized that it says “procurement agency” and not “donation agency.” I guess she did kind of buy it…

Oh please. Educate youself. You sound like an idiot. You DO NOT buy organs. The black market is a thing of the past. When you die, there will be agencies that contact your family members asking if you wanted to be a donor or if you did not specify in life that you wanted to be a donor they will encourage your family members to donate different parts of you. You don’t need them anymore so why not? She (and anyone else that has received an organ from donation) DID NOT purchase the organ. I’m sure there are costs that the hospital tacks on, but that is on the hospital – not the organ. NON-PROFIT!!!! Read a book and get off the gossip sites you dolt.

stand strong–thats not a bandage its a right chest wall dialysis port catheter. but her celebrity status did make her jump the list. you have to think–she has hep c–yet she still got a kidney. hm. how abotu the other ppl waiting for kidneys who dont have other diseases who would live 10+ years with that kidney who didnt do drugs in the past?
