Friends And Family Are Upset About Gosselin Announcement

Friends and family of Kate and Jon Gosselin wish they didn’t make their separation announcement to the public. Some fear the effect it will have on their 8 children. Us Weekly really did their homework on this one!
Kate’s brother, Kevin Kreider, tells RadarOnline.com: "We’re just so heartbroken and sad about the announcement that they made — an announcement that could be so life-shattering to a young child." And it was used as a teaser, used to gain ratings, without any regards for my nieces and nephews. It was really hurtful. We were really sad to see that."
Their neighbor Dennis:"I do feel bad for the children. Hopefully they will be civil and everything for the kids sake. He needs to get away from her and run as fast as he can. The kids are the ones who will suffer, and that is the sad part."
Jon’s old (and bitter) friend Dominick Fabrizio: "Jon thinks ‘it is a shame what the world has come to’ with the paparazzi surrounding his $1.1-million home that he would not even have without that very public attention. Now that the charade is over, maybe the remaining 30 percent of the viewers still watching will realize no one should be taking life advice from Jon or Kate. I won’t be lining up for an autographed book anytime soon."
There are even websites dedicated to HATING the Gosselins! One owner says nothing is ever done with the interest of the children in mind.

Maggie, from the Gosselins Without Pity:"I cannot see how announcing your divorce on national television and continuing with the show is in any way putting your children first. I feel sorry for the family, but the parents seem very immature and selfish and far more concerned about their own personal needs than what eight little confused children require emotionally. I can’t believe TLC will keep running the show, but they will!"

we were all going to find out about the divorce anyway so we might as well hear it from their mouth first.
When were the pics above taken? Anyone know? I do think it’s sad, but unfortunately this is the world in which we live. I’m not there, I won’t judge, not without more concrete evidence either way.
I have never been interested in this show, but have just recently watched a few episodes. They do really love their kids, and it is sad that they are divorcing. I really thought Kate was pretty mean to Jon, so I can’t blame him for leaving.
I absolutely despise kevin and jodi and their annoying b/s. they are just fame whores. best of luck to the kate and the kids! I don’t have much remorse for Jon.

This is just sad. I get that she is mean, he is a pushover and they are exploiting their kids..but still the fact is these two once loved each other and did not plan this life, it happened.

It is sad that they are divorcing but I feel that Jon and Kate will make this the most positive situation they can for their kids. There is no doubt they love their children more than anything. There are many married couples who ignore their kids, abuse their kids and basically let their kids raise themselves. I will keep watching the show occasionally when it comes back from hiatus just as I always have. Because those kids are adorable!
I just hope that the kids are able to live normal lives. Or somewhat normal.

hahaha, I love that on an article about people getting divorced and their children suffering someone asks for a fashion find.
When they didn’t say anything, those are the same people who went out to tell the world that the show was fake and they are not getting along. Now that they are telling the world the truth, they are the one who find a problem too. Who needs enemies when you have friends and family members like these people?
I find it so hard that they are trying to put Jon and Kate on blast for what they are doing to their children but don’t see how publicly attacking the children’s parents aren’t good for them either. I am sorry, say what you want about Jon and Kate, but I don’t see any difference in what they are doing and what their ‘family and friends’ are doing. I just don’t. This show has been on for how long now and all of a sudden their entire family has a problem with it. Why didn’t they speak up when it first came on air? Now all of a sudden everybody has an opinion. It’s a shame what families have become. I just couldn’t imagine doing this to any one of my siblings. That would kill our parents.

ITA. Not just the family members though. I watched a show on CNN the other day and the woman was bashing them on her show on how they are exploiting their kids and all but yet her show was showing footage of the kids and talked trash about their parents. How is that different? If everyone is so concerned, why run the kids’ pictures in magazine, TV, blogs, etc… Like the one where Leah was spanked. They think they are slamming Kate but what if the little girl sees that picture of her getting spanked when she goes to the groceries store with her parents?
They are HYPOCRITES EXTREME! BTW – I’m sure Jon and Kate informed the kids of their arrangements long before last night’s show. I don’t think it was a surprise to them. They have been caring for the children separately for a while.

Excuse you? This is a fashion and gossip site, she is not an idiot. There is nothing wrong with her asking for a fashion find. Is not like the story is about someone dying; some people on this blog need to lighten up, get a sense of humor or a life or something that resembles a life.

Kate wanted to lose touch with family members. TLC wanted to pay them (Aunt Jodi and her husband–Kate’s brother) but Kate didn’t want anyone making money off of her kids. They have been out of the picture for a while.
I am glad the show is taking a break for awhile.
How could this have possibly remained private information? No matter what they do, for the next few television seasons they’re going to be celebrities.. until they vanish from the collective short-term memory. Not making an announcement and just disappearing would be gasoline to the fire. Also I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter either way if they announce it, in regards to the children. Their lives are going to suck enough as it is (splitting parents is naturally tumultuous) – and they’re young enough that I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter to them if they talk about their parents splitting on CNN. It’s already awful.

Exactly. I really can’t get over all these people on shows like FOX and CNN bashing this couple for having a TV show. This is soooooooooo hypocritical. How the hell can they talk about exploitating children. Magazines(especially) and blogs run pictures of celebrity children 24/7 and nobody says boo. What about celebrities that sell pictures of their children? What about celebrities that share intimate info about their kids to the entire world? What about celebrities who call up the paparazzi while out with their children just to promote whatever the hell they have going on? People act like what this couple is doing is so new and original. It isn’t any different, imho. The media exploits these children, along with others, on a daily basis. This family is being attacked for what celebrities have been doing for years. If Auntie Jodie/Kate’s brother really cared about the well fare of these children, they would have called Jon and Kate up and asked what could they do to help make this situation easier on the kids. Not call up every media outlet that would listen and say nasty things about the parents that the kids will read one day. SMGDH.
