The industry CAN be cruel – so this one unfortunately might be true. Today’s ‘Fact or Fiction’ rumor is about Mischa Barton’s weight. Have producers asked the star to lose 10 pounds for ‘The Beautiful Life‘?
The actress – who was recently released from hospital after being placed under involuntary psychiatric care – was "shocked to tears" when she was told to slim down for her newest role.A source told Britain’s Star magazine:
“She knows that means they are calling her fat behind her back. She knows she is heavier than she needs to be but to hear it like that… it really shook her. How can Mischa play a model when she’s looking so heavy?
“She’s broken down in tears more than once before shooting. It’s a lot of pressure for someone who is just out of hospital.”
Despite the upsetting news, friends insist Mischa is determined to shed the pounds as fast as possible.
The source added:
“She’s always been able to lose weight fast. Everyone knows she’s
been struggling, so people are just really rooting for her.”

I will say it is true. The network will come out and deny they want their actresses to resemble skeletal remains, and pretty much force the actresses to agree with that statement so they can keep their jobs, but behind the scenes they are probably pushing her to lose the weight. And I agree with whoever said that while she isn’t really fat Mischa isn’t fit and it makes her look heavier than she really is.
I hope that this is false. The girl just got out of the ward for heaven’s sake.
Fact or fiction, one thing is true: She looks way better when she’s slimmer. Like in her OC Days….
And people it is business and yes, I agree it is hard and scary, BUT that is why they get so much money for it. If someone has a problem with that, he/she should get a real job and be as fat or ugly as he/she wants to be….;-)

Yes, I meant to say self-depreciating. By that, I mean that ones self-worth will get lower and lower continuously. Going into that business will tear you apart. No one can ever been skinny enough, pretty enough, ageless enough etc. It will bring you to the point that no matter what, you are never enough, it seems. Maybe that is why so many turn to drugs and so many end up in rehab and so many have break-downs (ie. Britney, Mischa, Lindsay, to name JUST a few). All the scruitiny from the media, public, and professionals must be unbearable and I can’t imagine how it WOULDN’T depreciate one’s self worth or value. I know I would not come out alive if every inch of me was put under a microscope, or every word I said was analyzed and judged, or everything I did was concoted into some false and scandalous story, or if I was told to lose weight, or whatever… you get my point.
What a terrible, self depreciating business to be in. I’d never survive it.

What do you mean by “self depreciating?” I don’t think you meant to say “selfdepricating” either because that is exactly what Hollywood is not (for the most part anyway).

I hope it’s fiction but probably fact. She just got out of the hospital, you would think people would go easy on her for a while. Ease her back in so she doesn’t have problems and crack again. She needs slow steady help.
Girl has had breaks her whole life….now it’s time for some reality and she can’t handle it. never lerned how. yes…it’s hard, but it’s real life, Mischa. Born rich, grew up rich, became a star with no talent, thought she was all that and now….she’s freaking out because she’s afraid she’s going to look like her mom. Who, I’m sorry to be so blunt, is fat. She’s no worse off then 95% of the people in this world…so, man up Mischa. And I suggest going to the country until you get well, or get some other life.

The thing with her is that although she’s not fat fat, she is skinny fat i.e. no muscle tone and her skin just doesn’t look taught..especially around her face. So if she is supposed to be portraying a model (a runway model in specific) than ofcourse they are going to ask her to get into model shape. Probably sucks for her mental health and body image at the moment, but I’m sure she could come up with a very healthy easy plan to drop a little weight with all the resources at her disposal.

This is fact for sure! Mischa always drops weight like crazy but gains it in a short period too. That’s very unhealthy because at one point you can’t lose the weight anymore..
You’re right that roller coaster weight gains and losses are not healthy, but it’s not because they prevent you from losing weight in the future. You can always lose the weight, albeit at a different pace when you get older because your metabolism slows down. I think the danger is in what the weight fluctuations do to your organs, blood pressure, etc, right?

I really hope this is fiction but sadly it is probably fact. She is a really beautiful girl and even though she is playing a model in her newest role, Im sure its nothing a pair of spanx wouldnt fix! Shes not even fat, thats the most annoying thing.
Maybe her handlers should have thought about this before they allowed her to leave the hospital to make this shitty ass t.v. show. She is obviously too heavy to play a supermodel and this is obviously an unhealthy environment for someone as fragile as her to be in. I feel bad for no one in this situation, she needs better management and a gym membership and Hollyweird needs to get a grip, they knew the poor girl was down and out they should have just dropped her from the show. Being dropped and allowed time to get her life back together would have been a much better option then this. The show is going to flop anyways I don’t know why she would even waste her time around this negativity, she should be getting better in mind, body and soul not being nagged by some psycho, drug addict producers with unrealistic expectations. Lame all around.
I agree BUT she is an adult and should be making these decisions on her home. Her handlers are not the ones to blame. For all we know, they may have asked her to take some time off and she, being the desperate fame seeker that she is, probably insisted on going forward with the show instead of taking some time off to take care of herself. To me, that sounds much more plausible.
Maybe she shouldn’t be doing a role so quickly from being released from the hospital. Those people that are telling her to lose weight should be telling her to get her head on straight first and get healthy then start working again. I don’t think she is ready for this.

unfortunately I say this is true…she’s not fat but she’s certainly does not have the model skinniness.
