Report: Nicole Richie And Joel Madden Secretly Married

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have reportedly got married. According to website RadarOnline, the couple – who celebrated the birth of their second child, son Sparrow, last month – are rumored to have secretly tied the knot in an intimate service on Wednesday after obtaining a marriage license last week.
A spokesperson for the couple – who also have a 21-month-old daughter Harlow – is yet to comment on the reports but further speculation was fueled after Nicole and Joel registered Sparrow’s birth.
The little boy’s full name is listed Sparrow James Midnight Madden, while Harlow’s entire name is Harlow Winter Kate Richie Madden.
Some say DJ AM’s death made Nicole rethink her stance on marriage.
“Nicole has never been in a rush to get married to Joel. She’s so happy with him and their little family that she didn’t feel the need to change the way things were between them.
“But when Adam died, she freaked out. She realized life is fragile and short. She doesn’t want to have any regrets at all, and she does want to be Joel’s wife.”

In France, you can’t give different last name to your kids : even if they did get married, they would have to name their son Richie Madden as well. Guess it doesn’t work the same in the US.

I hope they have, they make a great couple.
When Harlow was born they weren’t married so they gave her both of their lastnames. But if they did get married and Nicole changed her name to Madden there would be no use for the Richie in Sparrows lastname since its not his mothers name anymore.
I dont know how it goes in America but dont you register the name of the baby within a few (1-4) days after the birth? So if they got married this week his name would still include Richie because it was still her name a few days after giving birth..?
If this is true then it’s a good thing because they seem like it would last.
I can see getting married quietly instead of a big wedding.
