Mary-Louise Parker Talks Parenthood And Adopting More Children

Posted on October 27, 2009 at 8:44 PM

OK! Magazine caught up with Mary-Louise Parker last night during the Worldwide Orphans Foundation Benefit Gala to chat about motherhood and adoption. Mary-Louise is mom to William, 5, (whose dad is Billy Crudup) and Caroline “Ash”, adopted from Ethiopia in 2007.

She shared a little about her decision to adopt and that adding another child to her family may be in her future:

“Some people are drawn to do it, and I felt like if I don’t do it now, I’m going to regret it my whole life, so I just went ahead and did it,” she says “And I might do it again. I don’t know. I would love to, but children take a lot of energy. They’re a lot of fun.”

Her overall view on parenthood:

“It’s magical, it’s amazing, it’s profound, it’s dramatic and it’s hard,” she says. “I’m so glad I’m doing it.”

OK! asks her what the biggest thing she’s learned about herself since becoming a mom is. This is my favorite quote from the interview:

“That I don’t know anything,” she laughs. “I think they really put you in touch with how little you know, and how little you’re capable [laughs] of and how much you’re capable of. They’re very humbling – children. I am more patient.”

Halloween is a Christmas theme for them. How cute!

“I’m going to be an elf, my son is going to be Santa and my daughter is going to be the snow princess. I’ll try not to eat all the candy. We really like candy. Candy’s fun.”

I would love to see them in costume!! And I agree with her on the candy part! She sounds like such a great mom and so content with her life, doesn’t she?

Lisa Kudrow To Guest Star On Cougar Town

Posted on October 27, 2009 at 8:14 PM

Exciting news for Friends and/or Cougar Town fans! It’s been confirmed that Lisa Kudrow is guest starring alongside Courteney Cox on her new hit show in November.

” she’ll play a dermatologist that my character can’t stop going to even though the doctor is mean to me,” said Courteney. “She’s the best in town at what she does and I become addicted.”

I can only imagine the hilarity that will ensue!

Courteney also admitted that she asked Matthew Perry to come on the show:

“I did ask Matthew if he’d play my boyfriend on the show,” she said. “He thought it was a little too much after Chandler and Monica.”

She’d also love for Jennifer Aniston to come and join her!

“I’d love for her to be on the show, too,” Courteney said. “Obviously we can’t cast her so close to Lisa’s appearance but if there’s a great part for her, I’d send it right away. She’s younger than me so she can’t play my contemporary even though she did on Friends, but I think we can find something great for her to play.”

Did you watch Jennifer’s appearance on Courteney’s previous show, Dirt? Do you think it’s a good thing that her old castmates come and do guest roles? I was surprised to hear her say that Jennifer couldn’t play her “contemporary” since she’s younger. They are only about 5 years apart, right?

Nick Zano Ditching Cougars For Doctors?

Posted on October 27, 2009 at 7:23 PM

Cougar Town cutie Nick Zano might be heading over to the new Melrose Place! Nick has been playing Courteney Cox’s much younger boyfriend/boy-toy, Josh, on the hit show but is apparently considering the leap over as part of the “revamp” of Melrose Place.

Zano would be playing a doctor who works with Lauren (Stephanie Jacobsen) and Michael (Thomas Calabro) at Wilshire Memorial. In an interview last week, executive producer Todd Slavkin described the character as “irreverent and funny… He will move into the [apartment] building. He doesn’t take life very seriously. Medicine can be very fun as well as serious to him, and he ends up lightening up Lauren.”

Do you watch either show? Will you Cougar fans be sad to see Nick go? I watch Cougar Town and honestly didn’t imagine his character to be on there as a long-term regular, anyway. It would seem that as Courteney’s character is getting her “feet wet” in the dating world, that would open up the show for a variety of different boyfriends/relationships. What do you think?

Melanie Brown Going Blonde?

Posted on October 27, 2009 at 6:58 PM

Melanie Brown was spotted at the Mayfair Hotel in London sporting a blonde wig. I wonder if she was just wearing it in an attempt get past the paparazzi? It didn’t work. LOL

Even though Melanie had said that a reunion would be exciting, it’s being reported that the Spice Girls are actually developing a talent search type of tv show to “find a new version of themselves”. I’m guessing that it’d be a show for the UK audience? Would you be interested in an American version of it, if there’s any truth to the rumors? I think the girls have such great personalities – this will probably be a fun show!

“New Moon” Director Wants To Make Fans Cry

Posted on October 27, 2009 at 6:35 PM

The Twilight Saga: New Moon director, Chris Weitz, talked with People Magazine last night at the Hollywood Film Festival Awards about the upcoming movie, the terrific cast and the pressure they are under.

“We’ve tried our best to deliver on the romantic scenes in the film, and I would like to be able to produce more tears than any movie before, if possible,” “If we could only weigh them with some kind of cubic tear measure!”

He says that he doesn’t envy all of the crazy attention on Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson:

“What I’ve realized is that they have a very tough job – not just playing the characters that they play, but living lives that are now very much under scrutiny all the time.”

“Everyone knows where every set is going to be. It goes with the Internet and all the information is out there all the time, and whenever one of them is spotted it’s immediately Twittered.”

He shares a little of the measures they had to take to keep things under wraps:

“I can remember trying to barricade some windows by turning tables over so that they couldn’t look in at a cast dinner that we were having,” he admitted.

But he says that they do a good job of dealing with it:

“I think that they handle it very well really. They’re smart kids – I can say that because I’m 40 – and they’ve got good heads on their shoulders. So they’ll be all right.”

He believes he’ll be able to slip away into the woodwork after the movie is out:

“The moment this film is out I go away because no one really knows what I look like,” he said. “At least that’s my plan!”

Good luck with that, Chris. I think fans of Twilight made Catherine Hardwicke one of the most recognized directors around – and the same will be true of Chris. Especially if he delivers them a terrific adaptation of their beloved book! :) Just 24 more days until we find out!

What do you think about having different directors on each of the movies? Do you think they will each feel very different? Or do you think they’ll flow just fine?

Natalie Portman Has Very Strong Opinions About Meat Eating

Posted on October 27, 2009 at 6:14 PM

Natalie Portman recently read the book Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer and it really opened her eyes, changing her from being “just” a vegetarian to a vegan activist. She wrote an article for The Huffington Post to talk about the book and her thoughts on meat-eating.

The human cost of factory farming — both the compromised welfare of slaughterhouse workers and, even more, the environmental effects of the mass production of animals — is staggering.

One of the more “shocking” things that she has to say is comparing meat eating with rape.

he reminds us that being a man, and a human, takes more thought than just “This is tasty, and that’s why I do it.” He posits that consideration, as promoted in The Omnivore’s Dilemma, which has more to do with being polite to your tablemates than sticking to your own ideals, would be absurd if applied to any other belief (e.g., I don’t believe in rape, but if it’s what it takes to please my dinner hosts, then so be it).

I understand she’s trying to make a point and it’s something she’s passionate about. Do you think she went a little overboard with the way she worded it? Have you read the book? What did you think?
