‘New Moon’ Director Not Surprised About Harsh Reviews
Posted on November 25, 2009 at 8:28 PM

Chris Weitz, director of the blockbuster movie Twilight Saga: New Moon, talked with Entertainment Weekly and shared why he’s not surprised at all by the negative reviews of the movie.
Nothing surprises me in terms of reviews. Having been a reviewer myself, there are only two ways to spin this story. You can either be the one guy who says this is a great movie, or more likely, take a more jaundiced view of the whole thing. And given the media blitz that has accompanied New Moon, it’s rather unsurprising. I do wish there was more appreciation for cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe. I think he’s a genius and I think he made something beautiful.
He says he knew going in that the movie was for the fans, not the critics:
I didn’t have any particular fears. The tracking numbers were enough to indicate that I wouldn’t be letting the studio down. But if one could imagine their biggest fears, it would be complete rejection of the movie, by the fans. What I’ve realized over the last week is I won’t necessarily get good reviews for this movie. Having swallowed that, this was made for the fans, and if you don’t get it, then you don’t get it.
The paparazzi attention is something Taylor, Kristen and Rob are still trying to deal with, but Chris shared that he had a pretty frightening run-in with the crazed cameramen.
I did a bit of a Sean Penn at LAX. When we were leaving for the European tour. We had left from our L.A. press junket to go to LAX and someone nearly ran us off the road trying to get to one of the cars. We were followed by eight different vans and there was some really dangerous driving. And I understood for the first time how things happened to Princess Diana (I don’t think I’m Princess Diana), and I understood for the first time why celebrities lash out and what’s that about. My first thought upon getting out of the car was, “Who was that driver of the car?” I never found him, but I did lift someone by the hood. A photographer. He was in my way. They have a legal right to be there but they don’t have an ethical right, and he was obstructing my path, and there was someone else I threatened to knock their teeth out. It’s not like me but I felt very protective at that moment and very attacked. There is a huge difference between the attention of the paparazzi and the attention of the fans. The fans have been lovely. The paparazzi in my opinion are a very low form of primate.
Do you let reviews of a movie sway your decision to see it? I usually take it on a case by case basis. I know most people aren’t going to this movie expecting to see an Oscar-quality film, right?

‘Cougar Town’s’ Dan Byrd Chats About Travis’s Future
Posted on November 25, 2009 at 8:13 PM

Dan Byrd plays the role of Travis, the 18 year old son of Courteney Cox-Arquette’s character, Jules, on the new hit show, ‘Cougar Town’. Dan sat down with TV Guide to talk about his character and the interesting relationship he shares with his on-screen mother.
I think he’s still somewhat embarrassed by her, but he’s grown to accept her for who she is and he loves her for who she is,” Byrd says. “I love their relationship. They’re close and open with each other, which is nice to see. … I think her having him young [contributes] to that. She’s a good mom and she tries. I’m not really that surprised that he would tell her.”
On tonight’s episode, Travis brings home his new girlfriend for Thanksgiving.
“He tells his mom that he thinks he’s ready to have sex for the first time with this girl,” Byrd tells TVGuide.com. “It unsettles her and she has to digest it and try to have that talk with him. There are some incredibly awkward and embarrassing situations that take place as she tries to navigate her way through this.”
Dan says that Travis might become ‘cougar prey’ in the near future! So, they needed to “up” his age in case it does happen.
” There was talk that he is 17, but we had to establish him to be 18 in an episode. They had to age him up like that to make sure that if stuff like that were to go down, it wouldn’t be completely illegal or inappropriate,” he says.
Some of this show’s funniest moments are the ones between Travis and his parents. I’m really enjoying it. Did you watch Dan when he was on ‘Aliens In America’? That whole cast was so good and the show was hilarious! I really miss it.
You can catch the ‘Cougar Town’ Thanksgiving episode tonight on ABC.

Christmas Comes Early For David Beckham
Posted on November 25, 2009 at 7:58 PM

David Beckham was spotted today on the streets of Los Angeles in his shiny new silver Bentley!
Wonder if it was a Christmas gift from Victoria? Maybe this is to go along with the gift of “pigs”. He needed something to drive them around in? haha. Or maybe it was just time to trade in one of his other vehicles? If he’s looking for a cruising companion….I’m available.

Stephen King Plans Follow-Up To “The Shining”
Posted on November 25, 2009 at 7:43 PM

AuthorStephen King broke some news on his promotional tour for his latest book “Under the Dome”: he’s considering a sequel to The Shining! And you know if he writes it, the movie sequel will soon follow, right?
According to the author, the second novel would center on Danny Torrance, the young boy from the original story with the gift (or curse) of being able to communicate clairvoyantly with ghosts, and who is now an appropriately aged 40-year-old. All these years after being tormented by the spiritual inhabitants of the Overlook Hotel and his father’s alcoholism/homicidal rage, Danny is now working at a hospice using his supernatural powers for palliative purposes. King even offered a tentative title: Doctor Sleep.
Are you a Stephen King fan? Do you read the books and then see the movie versions? Or just skip the book and go straight to the movie? His books are a bit intimidating because they are so huge! His new book Under the Dome is over 1,000 pages.

Courtney Love Spewing About Britney Spears On Facebook
Posted on November 25, 2009 at 7:14 PM

Courtney Love can rant like no other. And usually quite incoherently. Courtney felt the need to take to her Facebook page and share with the world her opinions on Britney Spears’ father!
britneys dad molested her , imagine the father that molested you owning you for slavery while your forced to sing songs picked for thier sexual content every night, insane right? i have it on First had authority, and fight as hard as she is and does she still didnt pull that card, its a pride thing i can relate to, However they want to play dirty, lets go, Im SO not affraid of the little trolls who hit this when i was f***** up who are called lawyers. lets GO.”
Anyone care to take a stab at translating that? lol! I was understanding her to an extent and then it just went awry. It sounds as if she thinks Britney’s dad is “forcing” her to perform? At least part of the rant seems to be saying that.
Do you think Britney still enjoys performing? I mean, you can’t physically force someone to get up there and perform night after night. She could just choose to sit on the stage and say “nope, I’m done”.
I never quite know what to make of Courtney’s public “outbursts”. Usually I can’t understand much of it; maybe that’s a good thing?

Must- See PHOtos!

Balancing a hit new show and motherhood can be a tricky thing. Amy Poehler isn’t complaining a bit, though. She’s enjoying her new show, Parks and Recreation, and the exciting ride that it’s been.
She also chats about the great writing team the show has:
Amy is good friends with her former SNL co-star, Tina Fey. But she can’t find the time in her crazy schedule to appear on Tina’s show, 30 Rock.
Amy says balancing work and motherhood is not much different for her than any other parent:
Have you been watching Amy’s show? What do you think?
