Today the trailer for Nicolas Cage’s upcoming movie ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ was released. The movie also stars Monica Bellucci, Jay Baruchel (Fanboys) and Alfred Molina. The brief plot summary:

A sorcerer leaves his workshop in the hands of his apprentice, who gets into trouble when the broomstick he’s tasked to do his chores for him somehow develops a mind of its own.

The film isn’t out until July 16, 2010. Why do they tease so far in advance? I’m too impatient for long waits. What did you think of the trailer? Is this something you’ll go see?

You can hear the fan girls squealing already! Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the Twilight Saga movies, announced today that ‘Eclipse’ will be the first in the series (and the first for Summit) to be digitally re-mastered in IMAX format. The IMAX version will be released simultaneously with the “regular” one on June 30.

“Twilight moviegoers will have a whole new way to experience this next installment of the series, with the enhanced image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience putting them in the movie,” said Richie Fay, Summit’s president of domestic theatrical distribution.

So, the New Moon fever died down a bit and now it seems the studio has switched gears to Eclipse already. It seems funny that the filming for this is already finished and the movie is only 6 months away! We usually have such a long wait for sequels in a franchise. I’m sure we are only weeks away from the announcing whether ‘Breaking Dawn’ will be made as one movie or split into two. I’ll admit that I’m excited for this movie -‘Eclipse’ was my 2nd favorite book in the series (Twilight will always be my favorite). Will you see this at an IMAX theater?

Can we even keep up anymore? I lost count of the women who have come forward in this Tiger Woods cheating scandal but now we’re being told that #13 has come forward! THIRTEEN? It’s being alleged that he had a fairly long relationship with yet another porn star!

had a lengthy affair with porn star Joslyn James (real name: Veronica Siwik-Daniels) during visits to Las Vegas.

Some “experts” say he should come forward and give an apology to his wife, etc. so that he can try to hold on to some of his endorsements but others think it’s too late and he should just stay mum. Barbara Walters was on Letterman last night and she said he could’ve done some damage control had he come out right away but she thinks he’s waited too long and now should just stay quiet. What do you think? Do you care to hear anything he has to say? Is it really the public’s business what goes on in their bedroom?

Also, in related Tiger Woods news – Jillian Michaels blasted the golfer, saying that he once hit on her friend!

“He put the moves on a very good friend of mine,” Jillian says.

“I knew he was an ass**** ages ago, I did,” she said at the Biggest Loser season-eight finale in LA on Tuesday night. “Sorry. I didn’t need to watch the news to find that out.”

Yikes! When other public figures/celebrities/peers are saying they know he was a cheater, it kind of makes it more believable, ya know? My heart goes out to his wife and children. What a mess.

Colin Farrell’s been keeping a secret from us all – the handsome actor can SING! His hotness factor just jumped a few more points, right? Colin will play a country music star in the new movie ‘Crazy Heart’. Turns out he surprised everyone with this secret talent, including his agent.

“No one had heard him sing until he recorded with [composer and producer] T-Bone, but we assumed if he took the role that he probably could pull it off or he wouldn’t have accepted the role,” Crazy Heart producer Judy Cairo told us last night at the movie’s L.A. premiere. “His agent didn’t even know he could sing.”

Colin stars alongside Jeff Bridges (who is the main star of the film). Turns out both fellas can carry a tune quite well.

“They both have great voices,” Cairo said. “In fact, it was Colin’s second day working with us and we brought him in and threw him onstage in front of 12,000 people and said, ‘Sing!’ He was a trouper. He did an amazing job.”

But Colin was keeping one other secret – the fact that he was in this movie at all! When I went to IMDB, I couldn’t find his name listed and thought that was a bit odd. Turns out he asked for his name to be left out of the credits! The filmmakers did want his role to be a surprise but Colin also didn’t want to take the spotlight off of Jeff!

“Obviously this is Jeff’s movie and…if Colin was more in front of it, Jeff would have to share the spotlight a little bit. He wanted to give kudos and credit to Jeff.”

Jeff’s performance is already generating Oscar buzz. But he’s not letting that go to his head.

“I don’t want to count any chickens,” Bridges told us, “but it’s great to get these good reviews we’ve been getting. This film doesn’t have the millions of dollars to spend on promotions, so it’s great that we’re getting the film out there.”

Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Jeff’s love interest in the film. Check out the thumbnails to see what she wore to the premiere last night!

Will you check this movie out? I’d heard so little about it, it was barely a blip on my radar but now I’m truly interested in checking it out. The reviews are great!

According to PopEater, Tyler Perry’s mother has passed away.

Movie mogul Tyler Perry has announced on his Web site that his mother, Willie Maxine Perry, has died. She was 64.

On his website, Tyler simply wrote:

“Thank you for all your prayers,”

Tyler’s mom has been ill since around late August but there’s been no word on what that illness was nor on the cause of death. She was Tyler’s inspiration and wisdom of his character “Madea”. His mother was a preschool teacher and worked at a community center for most of her life.

Our thoughts are with his family.
