Fuse Sits Down With Adam Lambert
Posted on January 09, 2010 at 9:30 AM

Fuse, Madison Square Garden’s national music television network, gets up close and personal with the former American Idol and headline-maker in “Adam Lambert: On The Record with Fuse.” Premiering on Monday, January 11th at 8pm ET during Fuse Idol All Stars, the program joins a lineup of shows featuring fellow Idol alum including videos from Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry and more.
Fuse host Toure’ sits down with Adam Lambert to talk about his latest single, coming out of the closet, and middle school.
On his new album cover: “People saw that cover and they were like ‘he looks a little feminine to me, I don’t understand.’ I’m like yeah… I had so much airbrushing on that picture on purpose. The hunky dory cover that Bowie did, Boy George and Motley Crue and Prince – like all these artists that did this over the top, lipsticky glammy thing. The minute someone from ‘Idol’ does it, who’s actually gay, it’s like ‘Oh No!’”
On middle school: “Middle School was kind of an isolated time. I mean the only social outlet I really had was theatre and that was one day a week. I was in a childrens theatre group on Saturdays and that was really my social group. That was the one place where I felt like there were other kids like me.”
About coming out of the closet: “It’s funny …This whole thing, talking about coming out. I don’t even think about it anymore until all of this started happening with my career. And it’s interesting now, because I am open and visible. I suppose it is important to talk about it, but the past eight or nine years of my life I haven’t thought twice about it, it’s just who I am.”
On collaborating with Pink: “Next single we’ve started to promote is ‘”Whattya Want from Me.” It was written by Pink and Max Martin who is a huge hit maker and I heard the demo that she recorded and it just broke my heart. The lyrics are just so honest and vulnerable and I think anybody can relate to the message in the song.”

what? it’s an interview he didn’t come up with the questions.
Does he do anything besides whine about how unfair his life is? Seriously? What, we’re all supposed to feel sorry for this douche now?
Adam is so down to earth and honest with his fans and audience. Many people aren’t used to experiencing strong self assured intelligent performers. There is always a sense of humor in his productions, kind of a wink and a smile and a nudge. Best of all is his glorious vocal ability. I really enjoy these interviews because of his honest introspection and analysis of himself. He is not afraid to bare himself to his audience.
Hi, Come On

Yes!!!! I am an Adam fan. I think he is a good person and I’m rooting for him. He’s intelligent and funny…down to earth. Love love love him.
He has the balls to throw Mötley Crüe in the mix? I hate his punk ass now more than ever.
well said!
Hmmm….can’t get much more passive aggressive and bitchy than hiding behind the safety of “anonymous” while you insult our hostess.
Just wondering why your website looks exactly like People and US?? Do you copy every article and just add your 2 cents??
yes, vera is a passive aggresive bitch.
You sound mean. Go away.
You sound mean. Go away.
He actually seems very likeable. I haven’t really heard any of his music, but I’m curious
I am a fan of all his work. Adam is a amazing talent and I am so glad AL found him to give him to us. He will make his mark on the music world. I a just love him.
AL is very talented and very entertaining! That mix sells! I’m sure he’ll go very far!
Not a fan, really. His whole act seems over the top and contrived, and just doesn’t do it for me.
I love him and his album!
I love Adam’s album. It’s fun and makes me happy. Strut, Pick U Up and Fever are my favorite songs.
Adam is a wonderful singer and an even better performer. Can’t get enough of this talented man. Waiting for the tour annoucement. Soon I hope?
mwha, not a fan.. he comes across as full of himself.
