  1. Loved District 9, so glad it got recognized. Well done, different and left you with so much to think about!

  2. If Avatar wins Best Picture and Best Director, I’m going to be very upset. It’s not hard to rip off Fern Gully and spend a bajillion dollars making it look awesome. Avatar was good, but it is really overrated. Christopher Waltz better win Best Supporting Actor; he was absolutely amazing in Inglourious Basterds.

CapturingLife – Tarantino’s movies are not for everyone. They are an acquired taste, and some people, like me, love his movies and dialogue. The Academy agrees with me. For most people, he is just okay. That’s the way the meatball bounces. Personally, I thought it was the best movie of the year, hands down. But that’s me!

  3. And you’re not alone with the whole Avatar hype. I thought the movie was visually interesting and the store was heartfelt, but not to the magnitude of what the Star War’s empire of George Lukas ,and the ( surprisingly for me to say) Harry Potter empire has achieved; And and there are many others not noted. Really I am Basing this on creative and ingeniousness of the wondering artistic human mind. The movie has a descent start and the technology is ground breaking but not as an over all, compared to so many others as a whole, NO!!! Not yet. Give it some time before you make hype . Sometimes it makes things fizzle before they get they footing. Sorry!

  4. I thought the same thing about the Oscar Nod. The movie had one great asset…. The actor who played the wacko german officer…… HE WAS SMIPLY “BRILLIANT”. The rest …..IT’S Politics when it comes to this movie, baby.

  5. What is the deal with Inglourious Basterds? I saw it – it was okay. Oscar worthy? No way. Melanie Laurent deserves a supporting actress nod for her role in it, but best picture? I disagree totally. and I loved Up In The Air but Vera F. wasn’t that terrific in it – she’s done better. Anna Kendrick must be FLIPPING out right now. I’m happy for her and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see her win. I’m just disappointed that they stick with the same few “hits” every year, there were some terrific movies last year that I think were overlooked.

I think I’m the only one who thinks Avatar was a good, beautiful movie but not worthy of all the hysteria and hype. I thought it was good but not like “knock out” good. I completely agreed with the whole “pocahontas in space” theories. lol

  6. I just saw Inglourious Basterds this weekend. Great movie! I was afraid it might be just a gory film, but I loved the story. Too bad the war didn’t really end that way.

  7. Re: Julia and Julie…haven’t seen the movie. Did anyone read the book? I read it and was disappointed. Kinda dull.

  8. Meryl Streep was awesome in Julie and Julia. I would have preferred the entire movie be about Julia and skip the Julie parts.
