Taylor Lautner’s New Role Will Be A Stretch

Posted on February 06, 2010 at 9:41 AM

‘Twilight’ star Taylor Lautner continues his quest to become The Next Big Movie Star. He will star in the new movie adaptation of ‘Stretch Armstrong.’

In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office,” said [Universal Studios] co-chief Donna Langley. “He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power.”

There’s no question Taylor has made the most of his opportunities from being involved with the ‘Twilight’ franchise. While Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart seem more interested in doing smaller, independent films, Taylor clearly enjoys doing the big studio movies.

I think it’s great that all three actors are advancing their careers in the way they want :)

Kate Walsh And Ex-Husband To Divide Assets With A Coin Toss

Posted on February 06, 2010 at 9:22 AM

For what ended up being only a 14 month marriage, Kate Walsh and Alex Young clearly had a lot of trouble divorcing. Their divorce was finalized yesterday, and despite what was reportedly a marathon negotiation session, they couldn’t agree on how to divide their assets. So here’s the plan:

“One-half of the community property furniture and artwork to be divided by alternating picks after the flip of a coin to determine who will pick first,” their settlement agreement reads.

Kate also has to pay Alex $627,000, but since Alex reportedly wanted millions, that amount isn’t so bad. Alex will also receive half of the residuals Kate earns from ‘Private Practice’ for all the episodes she shot during their marriage.

Kate gets to keep the house; they’re dividing the artwork and furniture using the coin toss method.

All for a marriage that didn’t last for a year and a half. This is probably why people in Hollywood are so reluctant to get married in the first place.

‘Dear John’ Knocks ‘Avatar’ Out Of Top Spot

Posted on February 06, 2010 at 9:06 AM

Who would’ve seen this coming? After a record SEVEN WEEKS as the #1 film at the box office, ‘Avatar’ was knocked down to the #2 spot by ‘Dear John.’ This is all the more surprising because movies geared towards women are thought to be poor box office performers :)

So Avatar was done in by a chick flick no less! Despite the monster winter storm on the East Coast, Relativity’s sappy military-themed love story Dear John headed to a much bigger than expected $13 million opening Friday from 2,969 North American theaters. Which means the military love story distributed by Sony/Screen Gems will definitely break Avatar’s 7-week reign atop the domestic box office Friday despite higher 3D ticket prices.

Are you planning to go see ‘Dear John’? Are you one of maybe five people who hasn’t seen ‘Avatar’ yet? LOL.

Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum are having a fantastic weekend, I bet.

The DA Plans To File Felony And Misdemeanor Charges Against Charlie Sheen

Posted on February 06, 2010 at 8:50 AM

According to TMZ, the Denver DA is not willing to let the whole Charlie Sheen-Brooke Mueller debacle just go away, even though both Charlie’s and Brooke’s attorneys want him to.

Charlie will be charged with felony menacing and misdemeanor assault when he is arraigned in Aspen on Monday for the Xmas Day brouhaha.

We’re told the D.A. was intractable and the charges will be filed on Monday before Sheen appears in court.

But there may be a big problem in prosecuting the case — as in one Brooke Mueller. Our sources say she wants this case to disappear in the worst way … never a great sole witness on the prosecution side.

As for plea bargaining the case — our sources say it’s possible, if the plea is for a petty misdemeanor, but otherwise he’ll fight it out in court.

This is a difficult type of case. A lot of women in domestic violence situations don’t want to go forward with actually prosecuting their assailants, but they remain in grave danger. It’s a vicious cycle.

Yet if they aren’t willing to cooperate…

What do you think: should the DA just drop the charges, since Brooke reportedly isn’t interested in pursuing the case, or proceed?

‘Jersey Shore’s’ Pauly D Offered $50,000 To Give Bride Away

Posted on February 06, 2010 at 8:35 AM

Now this is just insane. According to Radar Online, ‘Jersey Shore’ castmember Pauly D was offered $50,000 to give a bride away. This bride wanted a COMPLETE STRANGER to give her away at her wedding. However, Pauly D declined the offer.

“We rejected the offer, because Pauly is a serious DJ and all the other cast members are doing lots of personal appearances but Pauly D is not necessarily doing the personal appearances because he feels he has a lot to learn as a DJ. He does not want to be doing stuff that is unrelated to DJ-ing.”

What?! The reason for rejecting the offer is almost as crazy as the request itself!

I guess it’s great that Pauly D is so focused on the craft of DJ-ing (does anyone know what the craft involves? I honestly don’t know), but to turn down a $50,000 appearance fee for it?

But the request itself is crazy. I guess (hope) the bride’s father isn’t involved in her life.
