Mothers will always protect their sons, won’t they? Tiger Woods’ mother, Kultida Woods, spoke out after his public statement. One of the first things Tiger did after he finished his statement was give his mother a long hug. What did she say to him?

“I said, ‘I’m so proud of you. Never think you stand alone. Mom will always be there for you and I love you,’ ” she told ESPN.

“As a human being everyone has faults, makes mistakes and sins. We all do. But, we move on when we make a mistake and learn from it,” she said. “I am upset the way media treated him like he’s a criminal … he didn’t kill anybody, he didn’t do anything illegal … They’ve being carrying on from Thanksgiving until now, that’s not right!”

She added: “People don’t understand that Tiger has a very good heart and soul. Sometimes I think there is a complete double standard … He tried to improve himself.”

She also said she thinks this is a “family matter” and thinks his “return to Buddhism” will do him good.

I actually agree with the sense that Tiger doesn’t owe the public an apology (and let’s be honest: if he hadn’t lost so many sponsors, he probably wouldn’t have apologized, but whatever).

Meanwhile, others aren’t so forgiving. One of the alleged mistresses, Jamie Jungers, called the apology “crap” on the video after the break.

Then again, she got more camera time

This isn’t the slightest bit surprising to hear According to OK! Magazine, Joe Simpson “made a furious phone call” to John Mayer over John’s “sexual napalm” comments about daughter Jessica.

“Joe took it upon himself to call John up directly for a ‘man to man’ discussion,” the source says. “Joe didn’t tell Jessica ahead of time because he knew she’d object.

“The conversation was pretty one-sided,” the source explains. “Joe told John that he best not even think of uttering Jessica’s name again.

“John put up a feeble defense – he tried to reason with Joe that he was praising Jessica, not insulting her,” the source reveals. “But no father wants to hear from an ex-boyfriend about how hot his daughter is in bed – and Joe told John as much.”

Joe may seem over-involved in his daughters’ lives, but you can’t really blame him for this one. John did have it coming.

The source also told OK! that Joe told John he needed to “man-up and apologize,” so John sent Jessica an email, reportedly “apologizing if the interview offended her.”

That seems so… inadequate. No reps commented to OK! regarding this story. I’d be more surprised to find out this story WASN’T true, however. What do you think?

Well, Scott Disick got to give his side of the story on his ongoing feud with Kris Jenner (Kourtney Kardashian’s mother), and E! finally staged an “intervention.” Take a look:

I love Kris saying “When you date one of my kids, you date all of us.” It ultimately is true, but what a great way to scare off potential boyfriends- LOL.

‘Brothers and Sisters’ star Dave Annable is ready to settle down with girlfriend Odette Yustman. He reportedly proposed to Odette last weekend in Santa Barbara, according to People.

The couple has been dating for a year-and-a-half. They are planning a wedding this year – though no date has been set.

No source is mentioned, so I guess there’s no official rep confirmation, but if this is true, then congratulations!

Hayden Panettiere did say that her time as a redhead would not be permanent: she wanted to try going even darker. And she did, attending an event at Fashion Week as a brunette.

What do you think? This is the ONLY picture I have the rights to with Hayden as a brunette, but in the thumbnails you can see her as a redhead and a blonde.

Which suits her best? I keep wanting to say blonde, but I think that’s because I’m so used to seeing her that way! Really, I think she looks great regardless.
