Kate Gosselin Does Reality TV To Support Her Family

Are you one of the people saying Kate Gosselin needs to stop appearing on TV, go out and get a regular job, and focus on raising her kids? If you are, then Kate has a message for you:
“It’s not about an obsession with fame,” Kate Gosselin tells People regarding her decision to join Dancing With The Stars. “It’s about doing what provides for my family. Period.”
She adds, “If I was financially able to provide for eight kids (twins Cara and Mady, 9, and sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah, 5) on my former salary as a nurse, I would do it…but that’s not possible…I cannot rely on the fact that Jon will be there to help support the kids, so I approach it as if I am the sole provider.”
That actually does make sense to me (especially the whole “cannot rely on… Jon” part). What about to you?
These pictures of Kate were taken last night, after her extensions were removed, when she and her ‘Dancing with the Stars’ partner Tony Dovolani went out to dinner. She still has to have the new extensions put in. How do you like her hair short?
And the sextuplets were photographed hanging out at home the day before yesterday.

I like the hair. And I can totally understand her anxiety regarding being able to support herself and the kids now and thru their college years. Can you imagine paying tution for eight?! :-0

Or say no to designer clothing and 5-figure hair extensions. (Remember the Kate on JK+8 who didn’t care about fashion?) Better yet, STAY HOME. Oh, I’m sorry, you need to pay for your children’s college educations? Well, here’s another news flash…there are these things called “student loans”. Yeah, me and everyone else uses them when we can’t pay all of the tuition from our own pockets. Yes really! Parents haven’t failed their kids just because they don’t have mounds of cash stashed away to pay for 4 years of college in full. That’s the reality we live in.
I’m from a family of 7 kids, my mom’s a nurse an my dad works in IT. They had 2 average salaries but we lived in a house, all went to college and we felt “rich” because we were taught not to want useless expensive stuff (clothes, phones, gadgets…). You don’t have to sell your body and soul to television to raise 8 kids, my parents did it fine, thank you.
congratulations!! sounds like you have a wonderful loving family!. to children thats all that matters, loving parents. Kate doesnt understand that her kids have no idea what money is or how much of it she makes, all they know is that their parents are never around and they are being raised by nannies, bodyguards and the school system.
She made millions from the show and her endorsement deals. I doubt her kids are starving and if they are it’s because she spent the money foolishly. Boo hoo.

It makes sense to me that she does reality TV. Kate seems to be smart about it too and in control of things.
And yes, I definitely like her better with shorter hair. It just fits her better than the extensions.

I despise this woman!! She is OBSESSED with money and fame. Downsize your home, stop the nails, hair, tanning, and personal training. Isn’t spending time with your children more important than all of that? Honestly how long is her Dancing money really going to last? B****!!
I don’t understand why Kate is being attacked for doing DWTS. Plenty of parents have done the show and nobody said stay home. Also she’s pretty much a part-time working mother and her kids are school age. A lot of other “stars” had full-time hours/series and the kids wouldn’t even be home while she practices.
I don’t really have a problem with her, but how much money does she have/make?? I’m pretty sure that’s more than enough to support 8 kids. If she’s struggling with that it’s her fault because she’s spending all the money on herself. A few years ago I used to live across the street from a family who had 9 kids (in a 3 bedroom house) and living on a normal salary. They might’ve been struggling a little but they were still able to support themselves and their kids. I’m sure Kate could do it w/o reality tv.
Like seriously, when is this jon/kate obsession going to end. She’s all for the fame…come on…you can totally see that….would it hurt to downsize a bit…sell the 100 acre house, no more tans and fake nails and extensions….and actually get your own family to help so you can work at an actual job…but that would be too much, wouldn’t it be. sorry don’t feel bad for either jon or kate….just feel bad for the kids! enough is enough….i will totally not be watching DWTS this season.

I think that she is more than entitled to try and make and much money as she can, 8 kids or not. Nobody would tell a man “stay at home, you have children to support!”. And it doesn’t seem to me that she relishes the paparazzi attention either, I’m not sure where all the hatred for her is based on. And just like a previous poster said, I’m sure she didn’t PLAN on having that many embryos take at once.

Kate Go$$elin does everthing she does for herself and the attention she craves. If she cared about her kids financial future she would not have spent the obscen amount of money she does on her expensive designer lable complete new wardrobe, $500 hooker heels, ridiculous amounts of money on brand name purses, tanning and primping herself. The kids do not need to live on over 20 acres, travel almost an hour each wasy to private school et. Kate did does and will always do what is best for her.
This is such a sad comment. I’m sure John and Kate did not expect all six embryos to take when she was inseminated and the fact that they all did is very unusual. So are you saying once she saw all those blips she should have reduced? For some people that is not an option. Remember when she was pregnant it was never guaranteed that the family would be on TV so I have to believe she and john brought those kids into the world out of sheer love. I respect Kate for trying to give her kids a good life. They are all little blessings.

On come on vera…REALLY. My grandparents had 12 kids and they did it fine on 1 salary. What happened to all the millions she made so far. geez I know people that survivie on 30,000$ a year with 3 kids and are doing fine. She’s just starting to make excuses. She’s a spoiled brat. I so hate her. She ruined DWTS, I will not watch until she gets eliminated.

Things change, over time everything gets more expensive. Sure my Dad’s family was able to support 9 kids on one salary but that was a long ass time ago when things didn’t cost $40 bucks a piece.

I LOVE the hair. I figure if Paris can be famous for no reason, then Kate can get out there and make money, too. It’s providing for herself and her children, there’s nothing wrong with that. If I had the ability to make millions for my kids, I’d do it as long as it wasn’t shady. Just because you are a parent doesn’t mean you should do without or quit living. If you have the means to do it, do it.

Not the OP here, but I think you need to read more carefully as well. First, $30K/year and 3 kids is NOW and we don’t know how young or old they are. Kate could easily make triple that as a nurse…3x$30K….3x3kids….see where this is going? Secondly, yes things gets more expensive, but whether people with 12 kids do it 3 centuries ago or 3 centuries in the future….salaries go up too!
I was trying to say maybe they should have considered better what having 6 kids at one time would be like. If they didnt think they would get a tv deal how did they think they would survive? According to her comment she said she couldnt make a living at nursing and feed her family. Even if her husband was in the picture they couldnt make enough to live on. No I take that back – there are lots of people out there who make do. You dont need the huge house and all the trapings that go along with “stardom”. Its the kids I feel for in all this. The parents are idiots to the highest degree.
She was not inseminated, she was on fertility drugs. She got pregnant with sextuplets (and before that the twins) with the use of fertility drugs. They agreed to do the reality show to help provide for the kids because they were struggling so much and needed more room as their house was too small. You’re right a lot of people make do, but if you have the opportunity to provide a better life for your children then why would you not take that and run with it?? I totally believe her when she says that she does this to provide for her kids, she is not a celebrity whore like her ex-husband and unfortunately she cannot rely on him.
There are a lot more family’s in this country that have had sextuplets and those mothers aren’t shaking their ass on TV to support them.
I really do like the short hair better. I also respect her statement about supporting her family. She doesn’t seem to enjoy the fame all that much. Her idiot ex, on the other hand. . . .
