Gwyneth Paltrow Praises Her Nanny

Posted on April 27, 2010 at 10:24 AM

Gwyneth Paltrow couldn’t cope without a nanny.

The 37-year-old actress – who has children Apple, five, and Moses, four, with her husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin – admits she would never have been able to return to work if she hadn’t hired someone to help with her family.

“I have a nanny and she’s just like part of our family. She’s lovely and a life saver and I couldn’t work without her. I couldn’t be here without her because she loves my children and they love her.”

However, the ‘Iron Man 2′ star admits she struggles being away from her family and often broke down in tears while shooting the superhero sequel because the strain was so hard. She added in an interview with The Sun newspaper:

“Some days you think, ‘Oh my God, they’re in the bath right now and I’m not there’. And I would cry in my trailer. It was very important for me because I realized it’s OK for me to want to express this part of myself and it’s why I’m here, you know?

“They mean everything to me and they are so beautiful and hilarious and I don’t want to miss it. And I also want them to know that I’m there for them.”

The struggle every working mom faces.

  1. It is the nanny that really raise her kids. I agree that she has enough money and she don’t really need to leave her kids if she miss them so much.

  2. Oh, poor Gwyennie, crying in her trailer with her rock star husband. Makes me want to vomit. Sorry, she just brings out the mean in me.

  3. Oh please, you have all the money in the world, if you miss your kids so much then stay home with them

  4. I don’t see a problem with celebs having a nanny. It’s not as if they can just drop their kids off at a daycare like parents in other professions. Plus, there are a lot of wealthy people, not just celebs, who can afford nannies. If I’d had the luxury of having someone look after only my kids in my home while I was at work, I would have done it in a heartbeat.

I’m just sick to death of hearing celebs carry on about how hard it is for them. Give me a break. It isn’t any harder for them to leave their kids than it is for anyone else so shut up about it already!

  5. You would think she would thank her husband first, what is his role as a father when his wife is working? He stays in London while she, the kids and the nanny are travelling the world. Not knocking him, he seems like a great father but sometimes women should demand equal parenting from their spouses. She messed up her r/ship with Brad and everyone knows how great a dad he is. Very caring, hands-on father and supportive partner.
