Kristen Stewart Says The Paparazzi Attention Can Feel Like Rape

Kristen Stewart gave an intense quote to Elle Magazine this month regarding the paparazzi. We all know that the ‘Twilight Saga’ actress doesn’t like all the attention. When she has a chance to look back at the photos, Kristen says it feels like she is “looking as someone being raped.”
“What you don’t see are the cameras shoved in my face and the bizarre intrusive questions being asked, or the people falling over themselves, screaming and taunting to get a reaction. The photos are so… I feel like I’m looking at someone being raped. A lot of the time I can’t handle it.”
Wow – that is quite a comparison. What do you think about what Kristen is saying? The act is entirely invasive and we really don’t see what the photographers are doing to get the actors to react. We truly have no idea what it’s like to be in the shoes of a celeb.

Dealing with the paparazzi would probably make you feel violated to a certain degree. I can’t even imagine being treated like that every day in public. Rape is not the appropriate way for her to have compared it, but I get what she’s saying.
I don’t agree that you sign up for being treated like that when you decide you want to be an actor and are lucky enough to have success. Fame is a completely different monster today than it was even just 10 years ago.
I get extremely tired of listening to celebs complain about their lives. They have more $ than most people which gives them an enormous about of freedom to do as they choose. If you don’t like what’s happening to you then quit acting, take your ridiculous amout of $ and shut the f**k up.
This goes for Kstew, Rpatz or any other spoiled, whiny celeb who thinks they have it rough. Try living in the real world a**holes.
It is certainly a violation of space and privacy, but Rape? No.
On a different note she looks good here.
I think this girl is seriously up herself. She has an amazing job, money in the bank and is adored by tons of fans worldwide yet all you ever see is her being miserable, dressed hidiously and complaining about the life she has. Sure it probably does get over the top and frustrating but maybe she should remind herself that she’s not exactly ‘one of the greats’ and when these films are over because of her pathetic attitude she’ll be lucky to star in any more hit movies. I think she seems like a horrible girl. Rant over.

I totally get what she is saying…they are swarmed, shoved, have cameras stuck up their dresses, are asked all kinds of sick and twisted or vulgar things to get a reaction…people this is not ok..and I don’t believe just because you want to act for a living.. and some people want to do that as much as others want to be doctors or teachers, that you deserve this kind of behavior….never having a private moment…without worrying that someone is hiding in the bushes….it’s sick.
I agree with some of the other comments, she actually has a very charmed life, money to do what she wants. But she also chose a career that is well known for attention. Other celebs seem to handle it okay, if she can’t, get into a different line of work. Her comment about it feeling like she’s watching a rape was uncalled for and callous. Rape is something that should never be tossed around in conversation as a comparison to ANYTHING!

I understand it’s frustrating being followed and it does take away your privacy, but it IS NOT OK to compare that to being raped!!! Being an actress and getting into that type of field, you take a chance of experiencing this. Being a survivor of rape, I am offended and outraged. The only movie I have ever seen her in was Speak, in which ironically she played a rape victim and I thought she was pretty good, but I have lost all respect for her.
