Robert Pattinson Is Distantly Related To ‘Dracula’?

Posted on June 24, 2010 at 4:43 PM

Ancestry.com did some digging and found some great background on Robert Pattinson’s family. It turns out that Rob’s family can be linked back to the original “Dracula” Vlad IV Tzepesch, aka Vlad the Imapler! And they way they are related is even more fascinating – through the British Royal family!

“Tracing Pattinson’s family back to Vlad was difficult research, but the pieces that unraveled created the perfect accompaniment to the Twilight Saga,” says Anastasia Tyler, a genealogist at Ancestry.com. “Without any myth or magic, we find royalty and vampires lurking in Pattinson’s life – making his story just as supernatural as the one he’s playing on screen.”

Just the fact that someone could trace their family roots back to the 15th Century is remarkable! This would have made a terrific episode for Lisa Kudrow’sWho Do You Think You Are?”! Maybe she could convince Rob to do an episode next season. Did you catch this show at all? I highly recommend it!

  1. The ancestry stuff that lands in the press always seems like a bit of a joke to me. Robert related to Vlad the Impaler?

I’m sure they proved it somehow, but it’s just that the population of the earth was so much smaller going back 300, 500, 1000 years, or what have you, the chances are that if you pulled two random strangers off the street, everyone is somehow distantly related to someone historical and/or somehow related to each other. Heck, I’m probably related to this guy if they go back 30 generations. I think Ancestry.com was looking for a headline.
