Eva Mendes Works Hard At Loving Herself
Posted on July 14, 2010 at 9:28 AM
Eva Mendes “loves” herself. The 36-year-old beauty says she’s “worked very hard” to get there but now feels that people respond to her efforts.
“I have worked very hard to love myself, and I do. I think that’s what people may respond to with me. Cause there are a ton of beautiful girls in this business with beautiful bodies.”
However, the ‘Bad Lieutenant’ star also admits she still gets nervous performing sex scenes in films despite considering herself “attractive”. Who wouldn’t?? She told Allure magazine:
“When other actresses who aren’t thought of, maybe, as being as attractive to do full-frontal, they’re called brave. Nobody has ever said, ‘Eva, you’re so brave for doing full-frontal nudity.’ Just because I’m attractive doesn’t mean it’s not scary. Why am I not brave?
She also claims she wants to be known as more than just a “sexy” woman, although admits her image is her own responsibility to deal with.
“I’m definitely responsible for the image that I put out there. But it does become frustrating, because I don’t want ‘sexy’ to be my defining characteristic. I’d love for my ambition and will and intellect and sense of humor to define me as well.”

uh, it was like 80-90 degrees in L.A yesterday and this woman was wearing a scarf and sweater?
She’s yummy.
Sounds like something Megan Fox would say. Love her dog..soo cute.
Cute doggie… and what’s wrong with what she’s saying? How many regular people would feel comfortable getting naked in front of a cam and expecting the whole world to see it (or whoever is interested in her work). I see this as one of those quotes that is taken out of context and those who don’t like it are just j-e-a-l-o-u-s!
boo hoo poor pretty girl I feel bad for you
Not a fan of hers, but I am a fan of her dog!
If she’s responsible for her image then she can change it. She doesn’t always have to do all these sexy ad campaigns. It’s just for the money.
she shouldn’t wine bout people thinking bout her only as sexy cos she’s done a lot of provocative nude/semi-nude photoshoots for magazines and ad campaigns, so its her fault that “sexiness” is her main defining characteristic
as to her “why i am not brave for going nude?” well actors going nude on screen is act quite common thing now (unfortunately, imho) and i haven’t hear any of them saing “oh please, praise me, i’ve gone nude on screen, i’m so brave, i’m a hero”….blah, she seems full of herself…
