Drew Barrymore Thinks Mystery Is “Sexy”

Posted on August 31, 2010 at 2:26 PM

‘Going the Distance’ star Drew Barrymore enjoys mystery, so although she and co-star Justin Long have an on-again/off-again relationship, she won’t share the current status of their relationship. But their history didn’t hurt their acting in ‘Going the Distance.’

“We never talk about when we’re together and when we’re not. It never, ever will be addressed. Mystery is sexy. But I definitely think it
was a real benefit that we knew each other so well so the laughter was
genuine and the struggles, we understand.

“It’s very rare for me to walk into a movie and have such an honest amazing
chemistry with someone; that was such a blessing and a gift and I really felt lucky.”

Does any curiosity you may have about Drew and Justin in real life make you more interested in seeing ‘Going the Distance’?

Drew also said that although she knows how difficult long-distance relationships can be firsthand, she doesn’t think they’re doomed.

“I’ve been in long-distance relationships my whole life so I totally related to this as a woman. I know what I would want to make a long-distance relationship work, such as letters, surprising each other or making plans to do things that make you feel great and alive, and feel really special and think that you’re a part of this unit and it’s not a phantom thing.

“I think probably one of the real pitfalls of long-distance relationships, is the not knowing all the time and the inconsistency.”

I keep thinking of Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston’s movie ‘The Break-Up‘: they essentially were making a comedy out of a painful process. ‘Going the Distance‘ sounds like something similar, although I have no idea what happens in the end.

Are you interested in going to see ‘Going the Distance‘?
