Robert Downey Jr. Ready For Another Child

Robert Downey Jr. is ready to have another child and is hoping his wife Susan will get pregnant in 2012.
“I think we should probably try to have a girl because I don’t want another male entity to have to compete; I don’t want Indio (his 17-year-old son) to feel there’s another boy in my life. “I think I will be wrist-deep in doo-doo within 18 months. I’m calling it, right here.”
It would be fun to see Robert with a daughter. The wrist-deep in doo-doo part… not so much.
Discussing why he wants to add to his family, Robert said he wants to do “what feels righteous”.
“What is the upside? The upside is doing what you’re supposed to do, what feels righteous. And that is another 18 years, legally, of thankless blood, sweat and tears.”
He also joked about wanting to make sure he has a girl by trying various old superstitious methods. Robert told Playboy magazine:
“I don’t know what we’d have to do. Do we have to put it in a spoon and hang upside-down? Of course that’s wrong, and I think, ‘Wait a minute, I don’t get to make that decision.’ “It’s the stupidest conversation ever because it’s like saying ‘Red or black?’ You have a 50 percent chance of being right and a 50 percent chance of being wrong.”
Those superstitions are just that. I have so many friends with 3 or 4 boys who tried them to have girls… and it just doesn’t work. It truly is a flip of a coin.

it is not a flip of the coin but just a matter of the date. Did everybody slept through biology classes? Just have sex 2-3 days before ovulation and you have a HUGE chance it is a girl. On day of ovulation or later? Boy.
How would ovulation timing affect the gender when the chromosome from the sperm is the determinate? The egg always has the X, the sperm gives either the X (girl!) or Y (boy!). Are you saying X-carrying sperm will hang out longer?
Yes X sperm are typically larger, slower moving and not as harmed by an acidic environment, Y sperm are smaller, speedy and more delicate to the ph level so I guess theorically you could have some influence on getting one r the other if you go by ovulation and position and so on.
