Johnny Depp has several movies coming out this year – two in particular that fans are anxiously anticipating: “Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides” and “The Rum Diary“. In two separate interviews, he dishes on each project.

Johnny talked with Empire magazine about the more simplistic script for ‘On Stranger Tides‘. He shared:

Pirates 2 and 3 became quite…sub-plotty. The mathematics of it. All of these people went to see them two or three times just to figure out what was happening. This one is a little closer in tone to the first: more character driven, more subject driven. It has a freshness. Less mathematics.”

Did you find 2 & 3 hard to follow? I don’t think all of the fans were going back just to figure it out – perhaps they just needed another fix of Captain Jack? I have to admit that I’ll miss Will & Elizabeth this time around, though!

In another interview with EW, he gave a little update on his project “The Rum Diary“, based on the book of the same name by Johnny’s good friend, the late Hunter S. Thompson. The movie was filmed in 2009, with a possibility for release this year. Johnny shared that he’d like to do the promotion of the film in a way that would honor Hunter.

“It’s a special little film. The Rum Diary is one that I feel should be promoted a lot differently than most films. Of course, there’s the press junkets and the premieres and whatnot. But Hunter used to go and do talks at colleges and things like that. I feel like I want Bruce and I to get in a bus and drive to three, four different schools, and go and talk to people.”

We may be seeing a lot of Johnny this year – he also has ‘Rango‘ coming out, as well! Which movie are you looking forward to the most?

Denise Richards was spotted as she headed over to a studio this morning for a photo shoot. Denise posted a few shots on Twitter of herself in the hair and makeup chair.

Matt Damon and Thomas Hayden Church were on the set of their new film “We Bought a Zoo” in Los Angeles. They look like they’re having a pretty good time together. I wonder if these two are playing brothers (their characters’ last names are the same)? I can see that working – there are some similarities in their looks.

Andrew Garfield and his girlfriend Shannon Woodward caught a movie together at the ArcLight theater yesterday. I love how Robert Pattinson and this group of guy friends all dress so similar. It cracks me up for some reason.

Nicki Minaj landed in Paris today. Let’s hope this stay is a little calmer than her trip to London. Hopefully her fans won’t find her hotel in Paris.

After it’s debut last week, MTV’s new show “Skins” has been in the midst of an attack by the Parents Television Council for it’s racy content. Not only has the PTC spoken out about the content of the show – they’ve also been blasting the advertisers supporting the show, which has prompted a slew of them to back out. First to jump ship was Taco Bell, followed by H&R Block, Subway, GM, Wrigley, and now Schick.

In their letter to the U.S. Department of Justice, they wrote:

In addition to the sexual content on the show involving cast members as young as 15, PTC counted 42 depictions and references to drugs and alcohol in the premiere episode. It is clear that Viacom has knowingly produced material that may well be in violation of [several anti-child pornography laws]

Did you catch the show? What did you think? Real controversy or just good PR for both the show and the advertisers?? It’ll be interesting to see the show’s numbers tonight.

Even though Kid Rock was disappointed in Steven Tyler for accepting the judging gig on ‘American Idol‘, there’s one person who couldn’t be more proud of him: daughter Liv Tyler.

“I was so excited. I’ve never really watched ‘American Idol’ – I had seen it once or twice. I just watched with my girlfriends at home the other night and I had goose bumps for an hour-and-a-half and laughed and loved it! I thought it was really special. I think they hit something amazing with the combination [of judges] that they’ve got.”

When asked if her dad is always so funny, Liv says:

Yeah, he’s very funny. He’s really good at the weird sayings that just come out of his mouth out of nowhere all the time.
“Trying to translate his texts are really funny. I’m like, ‘Whoa!’… and all in capital letters, but I understand exactly what he’s talking about. It’s funny.”

Kelly Osbourne has replaced Taylor Momsen as the face of Madonna’s ‘Material Girl’ clothing and accessory line. Taylor started out as the face when the line launched in August, but on January 11th, Lourdes posted on the site that they were searching for a new face – and they found one fast! The company’s rep confirmed:

“Material Girl is thrilled to confirm that Kelly Osbourne is the new face for 2011! We will be sharing all the details on this exciting new campaign in the upcoming weeks,

Another source shared:

“Kelly’s always been a massive fan of Madonna and recently heard Lourdes idolized her, which she was very flattered by. It’s a huge coup.”

I wonder if this was always the way it was meant to play out or if Taylor couldn’t fit it in her schedule any longer or was she asked to bow out?

I haven’t heard anymore on Taylor’s Gossip Girl status. Rumor had it that she was put on “indefinite hiatus“, but she denied those rumors. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, maybe things are too busy with her music career?
