Whoopi Goldberg is never one to back away from sharing whatever is on her mind and this morning was no exception. She opened up on ‘The View’ about her struggle with drug addiction.
“I was a functioning drug addict. I went to work because I knew if I didn’t show up, a lot of people would be out of work and I wouldn’t get a check and I wouldn’t have the lifestyle that I needed to buy all my drugs.
She explains the lowest point of her addiction – when she realized that enough was enough:
“I winded up sitting on a bed for three or four days scared there was something under the bed. I wet the bed, I pooped the bed, I did all kinds of stuff and my roommate came back and said, ‘What is going on?’ I said, ‘There’s something under the bed…’ “I was so scared and that’s when I knew. Not only did I hit bottom but I was like, is that me?… I was a grown woman and look at what I did to myself. I did films during that time.”
She stands as an example to others that addictions CAN be beat:
“Look where I am now, I’m straight as an arrow.”
Wow, I give her a lot of credit for being so blunt and honest about her experience. Did you catch the show this morning?

Jared Leto Donating Funds From Photo Book Sales To Haiti

Actor and ’30 Seconds To Mars’ singer Jared Leto is planning to release a book of photographs he took during a trip to Haiti last month. Jared revealed that he has a special connection to Haiti after spending a year there when he was 12.
He shared with Kerrang! magazine:
“I’m very glad I decided to take this time and go. Although there was a lot of tragedy everywhere, I’m happy that I was able to reconnect with this beautiful place.
“There is a lot of work to be done. A lot of people are in need. The infrastructure is a disaster and the situation is dire, but the Haitian people are unstoppable. They have enormous challenges in front of them that sometimes must seem beyond repair, but their spirit is alive and well and they are looking toward a promising tomorrow. It’s an inspiration to witness…
Jared says that he was looking for a way he could help out and put his talents to good use. He documented the recovery efforts day and night:
“I was questioning in what way I could participate. I’m not a doctor or a nurse, nor a disaster relief expert or a professional volunteer, but I’m an artist. I shot and filmed day and night, and will put together a collection of the images to raise funds that will be spent directly without any bureaucratic waste.”
The book is expected to be released in March already – that’s a quick turnaround time. Good for him for doing what he can to give back to the country.

‘Star Trek‘ hottie Chris Pine and Laura Vandervoort of ‘V’ are reportedly dating!
An insider dished the news to Life & Style: “They’re dating”. Chris and Laura were also spotted picking up lunch together in West Hollywood, according to the eye witness: “They were laughing together.”
It kind of cracks me up when an “eye witness” says things like that – like if they weren’t laughing and having a good time it would mean they were just friends or….? LOL
Chris and Laura are co-starring together in the upcoming film ‘This Means War‘ alongside Reese Witherspoon and Tom Hardy.

Terrence Howard’s Wife Files For Divorce

Terrence Howard and his wife Michelle Ghent are splitting after just one year of marriage. According to TMZ, Michelle is the one who filed for divorce. No further details were available.
This was technically Terrence’s third marriage – he was married to Lori McCommas twice (they split in 2003 and then remarried in 2005 before divorcing again some time later).
Let’s hope this doesn’t spark off another round of celebrity splits!
