Julianne Hough Set To Star In ‘Rock Of Ages’ With Tom Cruise

Julianne Hough took to her twitter account to confirm that she has been cast in the upcoming film version of ‘Rock of Ages’!
“Thanks to everyone for all your good vibes and good luck wishes. It worked! I got Rock of Ages!”
Hough will play the role of Sherri, who is, according to US Magazine, the ‘small-town girl who captures the attention of heavy metal rocker Stacee Jaxx, who happens to be played by Tom Cruise’. She went on to tweet;
“Seriously you guys!!! I’m dying right now… I’m so excited and can’t wait for this journey of Becoming Sherri! It all starts… NOW!!!
”
Production for the musical begins in May. I can understand Hough for the role of Sherri – after all she is a singer and a dancer, but I’m still not convinced about the Tom Cruise casting.

It’ll be interesting to see Julianne Hough in a movie with Tom Cruise…
I went to see the musical in NYC last summer and loved it! It was fun and full of energy and the music was great. That being said, I don’t like the casting for the movie. I don’t think Tom Cruise is going to be able to pull of the part. And Julianne Hough? Sure, she can dance and sing (sort of), but can she act? There has to be some undiscovered talent out there than can make this into a great movie. Or else, they are better off leaving it on Broadway.
