Mel Gibson was officially charged this morning with misdemeanor battery, as part of his plea deal. The actor will be in court this afternoon to plead no contest and put this dramatic saga behind him. As we previously told you, Mel will also be required to get counseling.

TMZ also reports that Oksana Grigorieva will not be charged with extortion.

“Ms. Grigorieva will now concentrate on co-parenting Lucia, resuming her charitable work for the children of Chernobyl and moving forward with her life.”
