Prince William and Kate Middleton Will Become Duke and Duchess Of Cambridge

Posted on April 29, 2011 at 5:28 AM

The Queen announced early this morning that once Prince William and Kate Middleton exchange their vows, they will become Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

PEOPLE has reported:

“The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince William of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus,” Her Royal Highness’s Press Secretary reported.”Prince William thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge, and Miss Catherine Middleton on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.”

When the Queen passes away, Prince Charles will become king and William will inherit the title of Duke of Cornwall. From what it seems Kate will not become Princess Catherine even after marrying the prince as she wouldn’t qualify.

“She will, by right of her husband, be Princess Catherine, and I’m quite sure people will refer to them as Prince William and Princess Catherine,” William Bortrick, royal editor of Burke’s Peerage tells PEOPLE, “but strictly speaking, in an official communications it will he HRH The Duke of Cambridge and HRH the Duchess of Cambridge. I should imagine that informally people will refer to them as Prince and Princess Catherine.”

  2. I hope they haven’t had to delay their honeymoon because the press found out where it was, and so they’ve had to change their plans! They both look gorgeous and happy though!
