Breaking News: Russell Brand Files For Divorce From Katy Perry

I’m absolutely crushed to type these words! Russell Brand has filed for divorce from his wife of one year, Katy Perry. According to TMZ, he cited ‘irreconcilable differences’.
Russell said in a statement:
“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
Rumors have been swirling for a long time that there was trouble in the marriage, but they both denied the reports. But it was hard not to wonder after they spent the holidays apart and were both spotted without their rings over the past week.
So sad.

Very sad. I don’t think it’s attributable to any of the reasons trotted out by the gossip sites. I think it’s more a function of the difference in their ages and where Russell is in his spiritual quest and how that conflicts with where Katy is in her life, focusing on career.
Sadly, I am not surprised.
What I imagine the reason to be is simply the fact that Katy fell in love, he fell in love or thought he had, and Katy thought she could change him. He probably tried for a while because he liked her a lot, but knows they’re too different to function as a married couple.
I mean, come on. That’s Russell Brand. When you compare Katy’s history to his, and her family background, who can be so surprised ?
