Gwyneth Paltrow Admits She & Chris Martin “Fall In & Out Of Love”

I think this is a remarkably honest admission about what marriage can feel like long-term sometimes! Gwyneth Paltrow says the marital issues that she and Chris Martin face only make their relationship stronger.

“My parents were married for 30-something years, and my dad said [it was] because they never wanted to get divorced at the same time. I think you do fall in and out of love and you just keep going, and every time you go through a really difficult phase, you rediscover something new and it just gets better. We’ve been married for more than eight years now, and we’re still into it.”

Gwyneth said one thing that helps their relationship is her willingness to compromise. She even gave that advice to a friend of hers.

“She is an actress and in a new relationship with someone else with a big career, and I said this may not be feminist, but you have to compromise. It’s been all about you and you’re a big deal. And if you want what you’re saying you want – a family – you have to be a wife, and that is part of the equation. Gloria Steinem may string me up by my toes, but all I can do is my best, and I can do only what works for me and my family.”

Of course relationships take compromise! Isn’t that compromise on both sides, though? I’m not saying Gwyneth isn’t saying this: it just wouldn’t hurt to make that explicit, rather than focus only on the wife’s compromises ;) .

  1. gwenth is an idiot and doesn’t know what the word feminism means.
just because your a housewife, doesn’t mean its “anti-feminist”. i really hate when ppl with THIS much influence say such misinformed things. feminism is about freeing women from expectations. this expectation that you HAVE to be a housewife to be a good wife n mom. or this expectation that you HAVE to be all about career n no family in order to be successful. those are anti-feminist. anyway, i hope someone reads this and this lesson isn’t just lost on this blog.
