Did Katy Perry Diss Russell Brand At The Grammys?
Posted on February 13, 2012 at 3:30 PM
Some are saying Katy Perry was subtly dissing ex-husband Russell Brand in her song for the Grammys last night. Here’s the lyrics that some are wondering about:
“Days like this I wanna drive away/Pack my bags and watch your shadow fade/You chewed me up and spit me out/Like I was poison in your mouth/You took my light/You drained me down/But that was then and this is now.
“So you can keep the diamond ring/It don’t mean anything/In fact you can keep everything, yeah yeah/Except for me.”
It’s the “diamond ring” part that has everybody talking. Katy apparently added it just for the Grammys. In the studio version of the song, it’s:
“You can keep the dog for me/I never liked him anyway/In fact you can keep everything, yeah yeah/Except for me.”
Hmmm… what do you think:

All these rushed hollywood weddings are getting soooooo boring.
This is what happens when you married russel Brand. You end up at the grammys looking like a bitter/scorned broad. She shouldn’t have
giving him the satisfaction. Get over it Katy! You’re such a beautiful talented woman, no need for this.
One-there was nothing subtle in it in the slightest
Two-that was EXACTLY the point. I mean, come on, of course she sang that, because it means that today shes splashed over ever single blog and gossip site out there. totally free publicity for her re-release and she becomes a tweeting topic in minutes and it gives her name a boost in the tabs. How can anyone question whether this was deliberate or not. it was a deliberate bid for publicity, and everyone is giving it to her. Jeez, this isnt astrophysics people. Not a lot of thought required
i don’t know if it was deliberate or not…but she better be lucky he didnt want anything…b/c he could’ve robbed her blind…he didnt want anything from her…now i dare you find a woman who husbands leave them and they dont ask for a dime…never ever happens…he may have broke her heart but he didnt empty out her wallet
Candace, I agree with you. I think Katy broke HIS heart. Just a couple weeks before the filing he was saying that they were married till death do they part. He spent New Year’s Eve alone and she was out partying. I think I know who wanted the divorce (Katy) and who didn’t. He was quite the gentleman to not take anything in the divorce, because if he truly was a jerk, he could have taken quite a lot from her – legally. She needs to drop it.
Who would have thought that one day, Russell Brand of all people would be the one taking the high road?
I agree with you. But Russell has had his wild days. He has grown up and settled down, and had hoped to be settled with Katy. She is acting ridiculously.

She looks like BJ Smurf in that silly wig I hope it made Russell laugh.
Tempting good fortune with spite.. never has a happy ending..
I thought that song was kind of rude toward Russell. By all accounts, he was a standup guy and did right by her. It’s not like he lied, cheated, and abused her. She’s acting like she was in this horrific relationship, and she wasn’t. It just ran it’s course. Russell is definitely the classier of the two.
What kind of bitch tells her ex to keep the dog anyway.
I never like the girl, so I never listened to her music, but if that’s seriously a lyric from a song, that she never liked the dog and the ex can keep it, what a narcissistic bitch – ugh, my generation is so fucked up. Just solidifies my hate towards this woman.
Wow~those are lyrics? How much thought did she put into them? Chewwd me up and spit me out?? how many times has that been used in other songs? Today’s music sux. Enough with the manufactured pop stars! And I agree, Russell is obviously the classy one.
if you get the song from iTunes, which you can currently it’s the same lyrics as the ones that she performed live. But the song that’s up for sale is a studio version.
