Posted on March 27, 2012 at 6:00 PM
Even though Jessica Simpson says she’s been having a great time letting go of her diet and ditching the calorie counting, she’s getting tired of carrying all her extra weight around during her pregnancy. The celebrity mama-to-be says things are getting so tough on her, she just wants her baby to arrive already!
Jessica told Hello! Magazine:
“I had a great pregnancy. Eating and not having to worry too much about it has been fun. Taking a break from working out has definitely been fun. But I’m ready for it to be over. I’m ready to have my body back!”
She also adds that she’s gained about 40 pounds and feels like she could “pop at any moment.”
Tell us, do you think Jessica might have gained a little too much weight during her pregnancy? Also, how much did you gain during yours?

yes she gained too muc, she looks miserable, jeez! I feel sorry for her but god she needed to eat healthy and have some control. She tends to be on the chunky side anyway. I dont think I have ever seen anyone that big! I only gained about 20 pounds and I was extrememly healthy and still had almost a 9 pound baby and walked out of the hospital wearing the jeans i wore before I was pregnant. Yea sorry I was one of those and I was a model, but I did eat, I just didnt go crazy.
Sorry, but that’s really none of our business. And its kind of disgusting to see people analyze this girl’s body every single day. Put yourself in her position and see if you wouldn’t want a little more respect.
um she’s admitted to gainning 40lbs which is perfectly normal and she’s carrying excess amniotic fluid and a big baby so obviously she’s gonna be uncmfortable it’s also the last four weeks of her pregnancy which are the most painful. personally I think she’s carried pregnancy beautifully considering her short stature and the fact that carrying excess amniotic fluid is a serious complication that can lead to health issues with the baby
40lbs is not a normal amount of weight to gain. It is on the very high side. Normal is 15-25, she went way above that and she still has 3 weeks until her due date. I just think people should still try and be healthy while pregnant.
Normal weight gain is actually 25-35 lbs.
i agree it’s none of our business what/why any individual gains her weight during a pregnancy; there may be health conditions that we are unaware of. as for the case of ms. simpson, i think she’s chosen to make her weight gain public AND she’s also signed a weight watchers contract so…well, to call it fair game may be harsh…but to expect no negative comments from the interwebs would be foolish.
she has much (in the tunes of million$$) to “gain” from being big now and to lose it with weight watchers. i’d like to hear more about people choosing to be healthy DURING their pregnancy…not counting calories and dieting (that would be unhealthy) but making conscious decisions to “not let go” and eating nutritious meals. i think jessica alba might have been one of these girls…and good on her! not because she “got her body back so quickly”, but because she felt good for most of her pregnancy, etc.
ladies, i “let go” during my first pregnancy and it affected my body and mind. i made healthier choices my second time around (eating nutritious food when i wasn’t averted to them and exercising up to the very end when my body allowed it)…and guess what, i had so much more energy and so much more control over my emotions (which will swing!). i’m not saying we can’t indulge (i tried to get my hubby to drive to a donut shop almost an our away one night! i didn’t work out in the early trimester as i had a history of miscarriages), i’m just saying that being pregnant doesn’t necessarily give us an excuse eat unhealthy more often or to stop being active. be good to your mind, to your body, and to your baby!
I think it’s none of our business and she looks gorgeous and has her entire pregnancy!
Well, Jessica Simpson looks grotesque; the those ancient fertility goddess statues. It is repulsively clear that she let herself go. 40 pounds?! Maybe one of her legs weighs that much! And I love to break it to her that only plastic surgery will get back what she considers to be her “old body.” It’s a good thing she has a lot of money, because it looks like she will need a 40 gallon trashcan to hold the excess flesh that doesn’t “snap” back into shape! She’s a horrifying example of how NOT to be pregnant and healthy.
i think she looks horrible. she’s the one who is constantly commenting on her body, farting, talking about how much weight she has gained. so SHE is the one drawing attention to herself, posing nude on magazine. so yeah, we have every right to react and comment! and god help her get some fashion-advice.
What she did isn’t really healthy. I took parenting classes before and you really should only gain between 15-25 pounds while pregnant. Also just because you are pregnant it doesn’t mean you should eat like she did. You aren’t eating for two, in reality you should only add around 300 extra calories a day. Hearing how she ate (fried oreos, “slutty” brownies, fried chicken) is a little scary. If you are pregnant I get that you want to indulge, but eating that unhealthy isn’t good for you or the baby. You can exercise while pregnant too. A lot of other celebrity Moms and everyday Moms stay fit and active while pregnant. I know Yoga is very popular. I’m not putting her down, but I don’t want people to think that how she ate, didn’t exercise and gained 40 pounds is normal and okay while pregnant. You should take better care of yourself while pregnant, not worse!
I know she is diminutive and at her height (5’2″ I think) even a few pounds will be noticeable. But that is 40 lbs only if measured the way Kirstie Alley measures weight gain. I think Kirstie Alley is beautiful and she seems like a person it would be fun to know, but she has never seemed accurate in her estimates. Jessica can be physically beautiful but she does not look good or healthy and has not for most of her pregnancy. And, the poster above is correct, she has never learned to dress her large breasted, short waisted body to it’s best advantage.
megan you would be mistaken thats for women that are overweight before conceiving a woman of normal weight is supposed to gain 25-35lbs in an uncomplicated pregnancy but considering she’s carrying excess amniotic fluid and no she’s not 5’2″ she’s 5ft 3.5in. nobody complained when 5’5″ Stella McCartney gained 75lbs with each of her kids who were all about 9lbs at birth so stop picking on Jessica it’s her first pregnancy and it’s normal to gain more in your first pregnancy plus she had gained weight prior to conceiving from planning her wedding
I think it is insulting to women to be judged for pregnancy weight gain. It is an emotional time in every mother’s life- and we should all try to be more respectful to women and just respect the awesome miracle taking place in their bodies.
I didn’t gain 40 lbs- but it is not uncommon to hear of some women who gain much more. Kate Hudson gained 70. I am a short woman and trust me, pregnancy is just harder because there is just less room in the midsection for the baby to grow. I am short waisted and 5’3. You just look bigger because the baby has no where to go but out. She will look great post pregnancy and work in being a great mom. How she treats her child is far more important than the #s.
She has admittedly been gorging on junk food — and she brought it to the public…so no one can fault us for discussing it. One thing that has worried me during her pregnancy is her shoe choices — I’m afraid for her… if she falls should could really endanger herself.
I gained 40 lbs. during my pregnancy. I didn’t eat alot of junk and made healthy choices. I weighed around 120 when I got pregnant and 160 the day my daughter was delivered.
I had a friend who was pregnant the same time I was. She ate pretty much fast food. She was very nauseated quite often and only wanted Burger King. She gained 17 lbs. during her pregnancy.
Go figure. lol
She probably gained 20 lbs or so for the baby… the other 20 lbs is her HUMUNGOUS boobs. I didn’t think they could get any bigger haha.
Give her a break, it’s her first pregnancy. AS LONG AS THE BABY IS HEALTHY. Nothing else matters.
Oh, please. Just because she didn’t go into hiding during her pregnancy doesn’t mean she deserves to be mocked. I’d say there are a lot more women who gain like Jessica Simpson than Angelina Jolie. There are so many factors at play–baby size, health conditions, diet, exercise, water retention, bloating, nausea, hunger. Give the girl a break. Not all of us are lucky enough to be nothing but bump when we’re pregnant. Lots of women gain all over. She’s not immune just because she’s a celebrity.
It is really obvious that many of the posters here have never been pregnant, and I love when people post things as fact when they have NO CLUE. Some of these judgmental comments are so absurd it is almost funny, except it’s not.
Megan- Have YOU ever had a child? You might want to check your facts. Unless you are considered “Overweight” prior to pregnancy, you are supposed to gain 25-35lbs (for women with normal BMI). Underweight women should gain more.
I agree that it is important for women to focus on nutrient-rich diets during pregnancy. The goal is to provide baby with everything it needs to give it the best chance of healthy growth and development inside the womb. However, different womens bodies gain weight differently, and it is not for anyone else to judge. Frankly, I am much more concerned about people who are smoking crack while pregnant. If Jessica Simpson packs on a few, why should anyone care? She is becoming a first time mom, cut her a break. 40 lbs at full term is TOTALLY normal.
