Kanye West Wants To “Change The Entertainment Experience”

Kanye West has big plans, far bigger than just being a popular rapper. He’s already dabbled in filmmmaking, designing a woman’s clothing line, and opening a restaurant: now he wants to move to entertainment venues (think: theme park). Kanye told GQ:

“What I want to do post-Grammys is I want to work on cities, I want to work on amusement parks, I want to change entertainment experiences or life.

“Something like if [late designer Alexander] McQueen or [filmmaker] Tarsem Singh was to meet the entertainment value of a Cirque du Soleil or a Walt Disney. With the Donda company, this is our first installation.”

His Cannes film, ‘Cruel Summer,’ which reportedly was projected on seven screens simultaneously, is another thing he hopes will become revolutionary.

“When I was 17 and at high school, I made a painting that had seven angles to it, to create a 360-degree picture and now I’m 34 I created something similar. The way we work these days is like sensory overload. Normally when watching a movie we are on the phone or texting. Normally we have so much going on at us, this film represents that, as there is so much going on all the time.

“We constantly need more things to look at and the seven-screen experience represents the next generation. I was very particular about having the screens separate, where your mind puts the screens back together, the way you put memories together. I’m not the best director in the world, but I had an idea that I thought would be amazing to inspire people, like a dream of one day this being the way people watch movies.”

I agree that in this age, we deal with sensory overload, but how do you keep track of SEVEN screens simultaneously? I guess I’d have to see this to really understand it.
