Since splitting from her husband of 14-months, funny man Russell Brand, pop princess Katy Perry never officially revealed what led to the seemingly-happy pair’s sudden split. But in her soon-to-be released flick, Katy Perry: Part of Me, the singer dished that her former hubby may have been threatened by her red-hot career.
“I thought to myself, ‘When I find that person that’s going to be my life partner, I won’t ever have to choose [between the partner and my career],” said Katy in the film. “They won’t be threatened or have weird motives.’ Then I started to realise, that’s not true.”
Despite her demanding schedule, the “Wide Awake” songstress dished that she did everything she could to make her marriage work.
“I have that same belief system with everything, from career to my life to my personal life, everything. And I will do everything it takes to not fail. And I did everything it took, but it still failed.”
While Katy has since moved on, she also admits that just because she’s in the limelight, that doesn’t mean life hasn’t stopped throwing curveballs her way.
“Just because you’re in the spotlight doesn’t mean you get to dodge the curveballs – they’re actually bigger.”
