Katie Holmes Carefully Planned Her Split From Tom Cruise

Katie Holmes may have surprised everyone- even Tom Cruise himself- with her divorce filing, but you shouldn’t interpret that to mean it was an impulsive decision. Katie reportedly has been laying the groundwork to leave Tom for a while. A source told People:
“She was talking to Tom on the phone up until last week saying, ‘I love you.’ Her inner circle has been planning this and switching out cell phones since she was in China [in mid-June]. When new cell phones arrived, then nobody could reach her. Her old best friends from last week don’t have her new number, no email. She’s unreachable.”
Tom knew Katie was moving into a different apartment, but she had an explanation for that, too.
“She said she moved there to drive into the underground garage. There are fewer paparazzi and it’s less intrusive for her. It was the first phase of getting everything out of the house, and that’s why she was able to say she’s moving without giving an indication that she was going to divorce him.”
Then her father, Martin Holmes, an attorney, arrived in New York City last week, firing many of the people closest to Katie before she anonymously filed the divorce papers. It’s mind-blowing that Katie had to go to such drastic steps to leave!

The way she planned and had everything in place makes me suspect abuse of some kind. He seems like such a control freak, which is abuse. I applaud her for leaving. She has a great support system in her family. I wish her nothing but the best.
