Did Sofia Vergara Almost Marry Tom Cruise Before He Met Katie Holmes?

It really is a small, small world in Hollywood. While Sofia Vergara is celebrating her engagement and Tom Cruise is ending a chapter in his life by finalizing his divorce from Katie Holmes, it is just now coming out that Tom had actually pursued and wanted to marry Sofia Vergara before he met Katie back in 2005! Here’s what we’re reading:
Before Sofia became a household name by playing the goofy trophy wife on Modern Family, she and Tom dated for several months before Katie came into the picture. Tom heavily pursued Sofia because he allegedly wanted to reach out to the Latin community with Scientology but from what we hear, Sofia wasn’t having it. She picked it up quickly that the religion wasn’t her thing and when Tom eagerly tried to get her to go on a Scientology retreat in Clearwater Beach, Fla. she decided to give him the boot and stopped answering his phone calls. Ouch!
I’d hate to say this, but the rumors that suggest Tom sets up auditions for his future girlfriends and tries to bring them in for more Scientology publicity might be true. I can’t help but wonder, who is Tom’s next girlfriend going to be? A lot of bloggers out there are pointing their fingers at Jennifer Love Hewitt. What do you think?
