Now that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have reached a confidential divorce settlement, more details are coming out about how Katie planned to leave her marriage. It sounds like she really had to go out of her way to keep her plans a secret, from using disposable phones to talk to her lawyers to hiring attorneys at three different law firms in three different states. Goodness! A source told People Katie realized:
“she no longer had the life she wanted, in terms of her career, her way of life, everything. Once she decided to go, she was done.”
Katie’s father, who’s also an attorney, was instrumental in helping her plan. Us Weekly reports that Katie even reached out to Nicole Kidman for help in planning the split, although I find that one hard to believe. Nicole has been open about her estrangement from her kids, and Katie’s comments to reporters that Connor and Isabella call her “Mom” had to have stung. Deeply. But who knows?
