It’s official: Jennifer Lopez called Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning to confirm that she is, indeed, leaving ‘American Idol’ after two years. Jennifer reportedly was in tears as she made the announcement. It sounds like she was torn about this. Doing reality TV while also having an acting and singing career just got to be too much for Jennifer.
“I really have been torn … When I signed on to Idol I signed on to do one year and wound up doing two years because I just fell so in love with the show, everybody there, you guys … I always said I’ve never felt so much a part of a family of something, working on it and I did with Idol … it was just such a lovely surprise in my life. It worked together well for a while, but it just gets more complicated … something had to give, something has to give.”
So now both Jennifer and Steven Tyler are gone. What about Randy Jackson? I say he can NOT leave ‘American Idol’ now. Somebody (besides Ryan Seacrest) has to return! Do we need to start a “Save Randy” petition now? LOL

Add another name to the list of potential ‘American Idol’ judges for next winter: Mariah Carey reportedly is in “serious talks” to join the hit reality TV competition. Now that Steven Tyler made the shocking announcement that he’s leaving the show and Jennifer Lopez seems to be right behind him, a lot of judging slots are opening up. Mariah was mentioned before as a possible judge on ‘X Factor’ but her pregnancy with the twins kept her from being able to do it. An insider told People:
“She’s in play. They are in serious talks.”
I wonder how Randy Jackson is feeling about returning? It never seemed to interfere with his music producing projects, so I’m guessing Randy would be fine with returning. He’s the only original judge left on ‘American Idol’! I’d miss him if he left, and I’d like to see Mariah as a judge. Would you?

The ‘Twilight’ cast has turned out in full force for Comic Con to promote ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2‘ (which hits theaters this fall). Of course, it was inevitable that the press would ask them about ‘Fifty Shades of Grey,’ the hit trilogy that started out as ‘Twilight’ fan fiction. Robert Pattinson didn’t say he’d read the books but said what he would do if he got a copy of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ in his hands.
“I would just sit there and lick the pages. What are we live on?”
LOL! Kristen Stewart was asked if she, Robert, and their co-star, Taylor Lautner, would read it in a book club.
“That would be disgusting.”
Okay… I’m not sure Kristen’s a fan of the books. Or the idea of the books. At this point, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ has become a sensation in its own right.

Charlie Sheen reportedly is preparing to quit twitter, despite having nearly eight million followers. He got more than one million followers in 48 hours when he first started his twitter account (during Charlie’s infamous meltdown). TMZ says it’s not clear when Charlie will quit twitter, but it could be pretty soon (hours or days). Sources close to Charlie say he feels he’s “not getting anything out of the social network.”
Charlie does, however, want to join ‘American Idol’ as a judge next season! He has some conditions, though.
“If the numbers move the needle AND ‘Idol’ matches 20 per cent of my weekly salary for Autism Speaks, JDRF, and the Boys and Girls Club … then the hell with it. As we say, pour the smoke. (sic)”
Now this could be interesting. Can you see Charlie as a judge on ‘American Idol’?
James Franco and Mila Kunis star in a prequel of the classic tale ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ It’s called ‘Oz The Great and Powerful.’ This is the story of how the Wizard of Oz (you know, the guy behind the curtain) came to be in Oz in the first place. It’s much the same thinking as what’s behind ‘Maleficent,’ Angelina Jolie’s movie that’s based on ‘Sleeping Beauty.’
Does this look interesting to you? I have to admit, it does to me. This is something I’ll be keeping an eye out for. Who knew Oz came from Kansas just like Dorothy? Looks like he had his own showdown with the Evil Witch, too.
Although beauty and sex appeal are usually considered assets for an actress, Scarlett Johansson says her looks haven’t always worked in her favor. She said her appearance has sometimes actually cost her film roles. Talk about frustrating!
“[Losing out on film roles] has happened to me before, yeah. That’s always an unfortunate thing to figure out, ‘Why can’t you see?!’ For me, I would imagine when casting someone, you would want to challenge yourself in some way. It is so interesting to see actors transform. There are certainly plenty of times when I am definitely not sexy.”
Nevertheless, Scarlett says she still works hard to maintain her figure, although she will indulge.
“I live a relatively healthy lifestyle, I think. I’m not overly strict. I like to go out and enjoy myself and drink a couple of glasses of wine and stay out late occasionally and eat a slice of cake. I work out and eat well most of the time and try to get some rest. [I eat] lots of kale. I try to stay away from meat and dairy and foods like that.”
Well, Scarlett may have lost out on some film roles, but she has had plenty of great ones, so she can take solace in that!
