Rihanna and Drake will have quite a night at the 2012 MTV VMA awards! They each received the most nominations with five apiece. And to make things even more interesting: Rihanna and Drake both face off against Chris Brown but in different categories. This should make for one INTERESTING show.

The other big shock about the noms is Lady Gaga: she received ZERO nominations this year. I wonder if her little monsters are already organizing a protest?

It looks like Carrie Underwood’s new music video, ‘Blown Away,’ was inspired a bit by ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ Carrie explained in a behind-the-scenes video:

“The first time I heard the song, I knew it was for me. We wanted to create this modern-day, tragic Wizard of Oz mini-movie.”

‘Blown Away’ definitely does that! The checked shirt (compared to Dorothy’s checked dress), a twister, transition from black and white to color all are reminiscent of the movie ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ Normally music videos don’t impress me all that much, but this one does. I’m still impressed by the success Carrie’s had since winning ‘American Idol’! What do you think of the video?

Scarlett Johansson returned to the recording studio! She worked with Lulu Gainsbourg on a cover of French music legend Serge Gainsbourg’s ‘Bonnie & Clyde.’ The song is included in Lulu’s tribute to his father. The tribute album is called ‘From Gainsbourg to Lulu.’

Lulu selected all the songs and invited various people to sing tracks. In addition to Scarlett, he reportedly asked Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, who did a duet (pre-split). All of these songs would ”best pay homage to his father’s work,” according to someone close to Lulu. I hope we get to hear the album here in the States! Are you a fan of Scarlett as a singer?

Singer Sheryl Crow filed for a restraining order against a man who allegedly threatened to shoot her. The man, Phillip Gordon Sparks, claims Sheryl stole money from him in some “disturbing” Facebook posts that date back to April. Sheryl said in court papers:

“It was clear to me that [Sparks] was deeply disturbed because his posts were delusional, rambling, filled with profanity and laced with angry rants.” She says that the man claimed in one of his posts that she “had broken into his house because I was looking for his gun. Other posts claimed that I was supposedly filming him surreptitiously, tried to have him arrested and that I had stolen money from him. All of these allegations were, of course, categorically false.”

Things escalated last week when the man went to the Screen Actors’ Guild offices and supposedly threatened to “just shoot [Sheryl].” OMG! In her request for a restraining order, Sheryl wrote that she is fearful for her own safety as well as the safety of those around her, including her children, nanny, manager (whom Phillip allegedly referred to by name in one of his Facebook posts). A judge hasn’t yet ruled on Sheryl’s request. Hopefully no one gets hurt!

While the Kristen Stewart cheating scandal might have cost her not only her long-time love Robert Pattinson as well as her friends and fans, it also might have cost her beloved dog, Bear.  RadarOnline.com is reporting that now that Robert has moved out of the home that he and Kristen shared together he also wants custody of their rescue dog Bear.  Kristen however is apparently very attached to the pet and isn’t going to give him up without a fight.  According to an insider;

“After Rob moved his things out of their Los Angeles apartment, he then told Kristen he wanted Bear.  She was heartbroken – they adopted Bear together and she always felt that he was their little baby.  But Rob was so hurt by Kristen’s actions he decided that he wants the dog to help him get over what happened. After all, a dog is a man’s best friend and Bear is such a good companion.

“However, Kristen won’t give up Bear in a hurry. She helped Rob save Bear from Parco disease, which nearly took its life when it was a puppy.  She wants joint custody – and it could get a little messy,”

I know how much people fall in love with their pets so I can imagine it’s going to be very tough to decide who gets to keep the dog.  I think if I were Kristen though I would just let Rob have Bear.  After all, if it weren’t for her and her actions this would be a non-issue so maybe she should just suck it up and not fight him on this one. Thoughts?
