Now that Steven Tyler’s not coming back to ‘American Idol,’ he’s opening up about how he really felt about the show. It sounds like it was more of a diversion than anything else! Steven admitted he signed up for ‘Amerian Idol’ because it was ”something to do while the storm blew by” while he was at war with his band mates.

“I loved it and hated it. It was a great job, I sat next to J. Lo and I made a ton of money. It was a moment in life and it became larger than life. The show’s about kids and what you do to nurture their talent. They wanted me to take the p**s out of the kids and I don’t have that in me. That’s not what I’m about. That’s more about that other guy. Not me.”

I guess “that other guy” is Simon Cowell? Steven did a great job mentoring the contestants on ‘American Idol.’ I’ll miss him. But it’s great that Aerosmith is starting up again!

Could Glamour have picked a better celebrity to be the guest editor for their Fall Fashion issue than Victoria Beckham? I can NOT think of one! You know Glamour’s going to have an amazing issue with Victoria at the helm. Here are some excerpts from her interview:

Victoria on guest editing the September issue: It’s been exciting for me to see my ideas come to life, from type colors to photo selection to casting. I even made my own list of Glamour fashion Don’ts to keep out of the issue: boat shoes (unless of course you’re designer Alber Elbaz or on a boat!), Bermuda shorts, nose rings, Crocs, and American tan tights (that’s nude pantyhose to you).

On why she is never seen smiling: “Do you know, I don’t know?! I actually used to smile a lot in pictures. I think I only stopped smiling when I got into fashion. [Laughs.] Fashion stole my smile! I’ve created this person. And I’m not saying that’s not me, but I wouldn’t say that’s the whole me…. It’s an armor that goes up.”

On her husband, David, coming to see her fashion show in New York this past season: “It was the first time! He’s always been working or training. But I was nervous about this show. I was feeling a lot of pressure. He phoned me the night before, and I just said, “I want you to come be with me. I want a cuddle. I really do.” And it was great to have him there. I think he was surprised; I don’t usually bother him with much detail. And then you get there, and the models, the hair, the makeup…I think he was blown away!”

Could we be welcoming a fifth Beckham baby? Victoria Beckham says she’s open to the idea, even if it is “tricky” juggling family and work. When asked where she saw herself in five years, Victoria said:

“I’d like everybody to be healthy and happy. I’d like to be growing the business at a steady pace, and to be making more women feel empowered, beautiful, and confident. And I’d never say never about another baby. It’s a juggling act – a career, family, a husband who’s busy. But I’d never say never!”

Oh My Goodness! More power to you, Posh- LOL. Victoria also admitted she’s gotten swept up in the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ craze. She even got her mother to read them.

“I’m halfway through the second one. I even bought my mum the book! But every time she tries to engage in conversation about it, I kind of dodge the subject. I don’t really want to talk to my mother about S&M.”

I can understand that.

Some reports said Robert Pattinson flew back to his native UK after learning about Kristen Stewart’s affair with Rupert Sanders. Now word is Robert’s still in the States at his ‘Water for Elephant’ co-star Reese Witherspoon’s Ojai, California estate. It’s the same place where Reese got married (and will be featured in Elle Decor’s September issue). Friends say Robert is trying to deal with this bombshell there. A source told People:

“There was no sign that either of them was unhappy. He would have done anything for her.” Another source said he had his “heart ripped out.”

A source close to Kristen Stewart said she is equally devastated, telling People:

“Telling Robert was the worst thing she’s ever had to do.”

I’m not sure Kristen’s going to get a lot of sympathy about that, really, but this is a tough position for a twentysomething to be in! You can see arial pictures of Reese’s estate in the gallery below.

Katy Perry’s purple locks are set off well by the pink background on this Elle cover, aren’t they? Katy refers to herself as the “candy queen” in her interview. “Candy queen” sums up her onstage persona perfectly! It’s also why I think the pink and purple is so appropriate. Here are some excerpts from Katy’s interview:

On relationships and marriage:
“I obviously have a lot to say right now…I’m a woman who likes to be courted – strongly. Never say never, I guess you’d say. I’ll let love take the lead on that.”

On her career:
“I love what I do, and when I don’t love what I do, I’ll make a change…I can’t be the candy queen forever.”

On being a role model:
“I have no regrets…I’m not going to be everything to everyone. I can’t tell a person when it’s time for them to have sex. Or if they should have a cigarette…But I try to live my life with a lot of integrity, and, hopefully, that sends a message.”

A solo-Russell Brand was spotted out in SoCal last night. The Brand X star left gal pal Isabella Brewster behind as he dined at Dominick’s in West Hollywood.

Russell’s been making some headlines lately and it’s NOT because he’s speaking out about his failed marriage to Katy Perry… again. After getting into a scuffle with the paparazzi early this year, the British comedian was sentenced to 20 hours of community service, along with a $500 fine. And as long as Russell fulfills his obligations by the end of the month, he’s in the clear!
