24 Hours With P’Trique For Harper’s Bazaar’s Runway Report

Harper's Bazaar's Fall/Winter 2012 Runway Report

Labor Day is over, the holiday weekend has passed, and the kids are back in school, which means, for all intents and purposes, fall is HERE (even if the calendar takes a little while to catch up). Harper’s Bazaar is ready with the release of the Fall/Winter 2012 Runway Report, a special issue that hits newsstands today. It also offers an insider’s look at the season’s top fashion trends, most promising new designers, best beauty, and standout shows from from the runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris.

The issue also includes ‘My List’ feature with P’Trique. Here’s some of it:

8 layers of perfume, 34 smizes, on average, 102 air kisses…

8:01 A.M. My iPhone alarm clock goes off. Save for my personalized Chanel sleep mask and my “youth” wraps (a mixture of aloe, olive oil, and açaí berry on strips of Egyptian silk), I sleep nude. As with a bottle of 1986 Lafite Rothschild, you have to let your body breathe.

8:13 A.M. I lie still, meditating, until my assistant arrives. Fashion Week gets crazy, so I try my best to always find a moment to center. My assistant and I do not speak as she removes my wraps. She has brought my breakfast—a chilled shot of espresso and the bottom half of a gluten-free lemon-poppy-seed muffin. I despise muffin tops, edible or otherwise. Though I’m a regular practitioner of P90X, Bikram yoga, Cardio Barre, and the Brazilian Butt Lift workout, I do not go to the gym during Fashion Week. There just isn’t enough time. Instead I do the first 30 days of the Insanity workout all in the week prior.

10:29 A.M. Since I am a complex, multidimensional being, I insist that my signature aroma reflect that. Therefore, I layer a carefully chosen selection of eight perfumes on different body parts and pulse points, including a spritz with Chance by Chanel and a walk-through with Tom Ford’s Urban Musk.

11:30 A.M. We’re in the town car on the way to the Prabal Gurung show. Just as I layer my perfumes, I layer my designers. I’m wearing my vintage YSL Mondrian dress, a Rodarte for Opening Ceremony mohair tarantula sweater, a Lanvin turban, and Prada Flame shoes.

6:30 P.M. I completely forgot about lunch (it’s a habit), so I’m back at the Bowery with Derek Blasberg for a hydration and nourishment session on my balcony. We girl-talk and take Instagram photos.

9:30 P.M. I change into my vintage blue silk Stella McCartney dress with a beaded silver Stella clutch and a beaded vintage blue duster, all topped with an ultrachic tiny hat. It’s an avant-garde Downton Abbey moment. I idiotically released my driver in a fit of champagne, so I’m trying to hail a cab to get to the Max Azria after-party. Cobblestones are the bane of my existence, especially when I’m wearing cab-to-curb heels.

Are you ready for fall, fashion-wise? Get yourself up to speed with Harper’s Bazaar’s Runway Report!

Minka Kelly & Chris Evans Reunite

Posted on September 04, 2012 at 12:30 PM

minka kelly and chris evans dating

Minka Kelly and Chris Evans dated briefly in 2007. Then Minka started dating Derek Jeter in 2008. Now Minka and Chris are getting re-aquainted, according to what multiple insiders told Us Weekly.

“She did a number on him him back then. But she reached out to Chris this time.”

What on earth happened in 2007? Hmmm…The two reportedly have hung out in Chris’ hometown of Boston and New York. Some of Chris’ friends are worried for him, though, and Chris himself is a little wary.

“He’s still a little insecure, so he’s being cautious.”

I guess we’ll see in time if things work out between Chris and Minka.

jillian michaels returning to the biggest loser

Calling all ‘The Biggest Loser’ fans! The most terrifying trainer on the show is BACK. Jillian Michaels is returning to ‘The Biggest Loser’ for its 14th season which begins in January. Jillian said when she left the show in 2011 that she wanted to focus on starting a family. Now she and partner Heidi Rhoades have two kids. College won’t pay for itself! Jillian made the announcement on ‘Today’ this morning and talked about motherhood.

“It’s been an incredible ride. I’m still adjusting obviously and I don’t know that I’ll ever fully be adjusted to it, but there’s nothing like it. It brings a whole new level of meaning to your life. I’m not gonna pretend like it’s not a challenge There are days when I am definitely tearing out my hair.”

Join the club, Jillian! ‘The Biggest Loser’ will also add teenage contestants (13-17), but they will not face elimination or the public weigh-in. I’m a HUGE fan of Jillian’s workout DVDs. Is this great news or what, ‘Biggest Loser’ fans?

Emma Watson Is An Edgy Glamour Girl

Posted on September 04, 2012 at 11:40 AM

emma watson covers glamour magazine october issue

Emma Watson showed off her edgy side in the October issue of Glamour magazine. Her look is fitting for her new movie, ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower.’ It’s Emma’s first big role after ‘Harry Potter.’ Here’s some of what Emma shared with Glamour:

On what acting in her new film, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, made her realize about her career:  “Making this movie was so pivotal for me because I realized I do really want to be an actress, which wasn’t something I fully knew, since Harry Potter was such a singular experience. Obviously I’m nervous to see what other people think, but it kind of doesn’t matter to me. It’s so cheesy to say this, but it’s the journey, not the end goal, that’s important.”

On her obsession with Lena Dunham: “I am literally obsessed with [Girls creator and star] Lena Dunham. She’s, like, my favorite person in the world. I follow her on Twitter; I read her every day. And, yes, Girls is an example of something so refreshing because it feels real.”

On keeping her university life out of the spotlight: “I just—I don’t know. I just feel like if I start opening the door to talking about my university experience, then people just kind of…own everything. There was a lot of stuff a couple of years ago saying that I was bullied at Brown and awful things like that, none of which were true. But it’s my personal experience and it’s my personal life…and I would just go crazy if I didn’t have a reality, if I didn’t have a life outside of the roles I play. The entertainment industry is pretty nuts, and having had that experience outside of it and going to university has really made a big difference. It’s important to me to feel like I have my own life.”

On the paparazzi, and being caught kissing someone at Coachella: “I know! My friend got me tickets for my birthday, and what am I going to say? No, I’m not going to go, because I don’t want to be photographed? But it was a huge crowd, and I thought there was no way anyone could get pictures of me, but somehow they found me. It’s difficult on my dating life, because anyone I get photographed with is automatically my boyfriend. So it just makes it look as if I’ve had, like, 6,000 boyfriends!”

On working with a stylist: “Yeah, I have to at this point. When I was younger, I used to do it all myself, but I’ve had to get help because it’s gotten to a stage where I can’t show up in my Converses or whatever I bought from High Street. And just practically, these gowns are ridiculous. You’re being photographed from every angle, so not only do you have to consider how the thing looks, but whetheryou’re going to be able to sit in it and whether people are going to be able to see up your skirt.”

On growing out her hair versus keeping it short: “I have to for roles. But if I had it my way, I would have just kept it short forever. Of course, men like long hair. There’s no two ways about it. The majority of the boys around me were like, “Why did you do that? That’s such an error.” And I was like, “Well, honestly, I don’t really care what you think!” I’ve never felt so confident as I did with short hair—I felt really good in my own skin.”

Can’t WAIT to read Emma’s entire interview! It’ll be in the October issue of Glamour, which hits newsstands (both real and digitial with the iPad, Barnes & Noble Color Nook, and Kindle Fire) next Tuesday, September 11.

ENTER TO WIN: $100 Visa Gift Card and Prize Pack From For A Good Time, Call… Movie

Posted on September 04, 2012 at 11:22 AM

Love and friendship are on the line in For A Good Time, Call…, directed by Jamie Travis from an original screenplay by Katie Anne Naylon & Lauren Anne Miller. The contemporary comedy world-premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, lifting audiences to their feet and lifting their spirits. Ms. Miller stars in the movie opposite Ari Graynor (The SitterNick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist).

Two young women come up short on the funds needed to live in New York City. Lauren Powell (played by Ms. Miller), a reserved overachiever, is suddenly on her own after boyfriend Charlie (James Wolk) abruptly breaks up with her. Katie Steele (Ms. Graynor), an irrepressible free spirit, is about to forfeit a dream residence unless she finds an apartment-mate.

Their mutual best friend Jesse (Justin Long) has the bright idea that they room together, even though he well knows that they are polar opposites who haven’t spoken since they met in college and then fell out within minutes. When Lauren and Katie meet up anew at Jesse’s behest, they’re still an at-odds couple…

…but, without options, Lauren reluctantly moves in. With nothing in common, she and Katie barely speak – until Lauren discovers that Katie is working as a phone-sex operator. This is, Lauren reasons, a good business opportunity; together, they will buy a land line and start up their own answering service.

Katie is – it would seem – already in her element, and Lauren catches on quick; it’s not long before the blushing subsides and the candid chatting becomes second nature to her. It’s a long, hot summer for the newly minted team and their callers; Lauren puts her job hunt on hold while Katie considers the courtship ministrations of caller Sean (Mark Webber). But as their business partnership takes off, Lauren and Katie’s newfound friendship finds unexpected challenges that may leave them both, as they say, hanging on the telephone.

Heidi Klum Has Moved On From Seal

Posted on September 04, 2012 at 11:00 AM

heidi klum says she's moved on from seal

Heidi Klum finally spoke out after Seal’s impromptu remarks to TMZ. Seal seemed to imply Heidi cheated on him with the bodyguard before they split but then backtracked. People around Heidi claimed Seal was “angry and jealous.” Heidi herself has broken her silence with a statement to People.

“I cherish all of the great memories Seal and I created together over the years. Our separation was based on issues between the two of us. Seal has moved on and so have I. My priority has and continues to be protecting and providing for our children.”

Well, that is a calm, measured response. I think Seal should follow Heidi’s example: avoid the off-the-cuff comments and be careful about public statements. Hopefully this will end the current debacle.
