The second annual Red CARpet Event was held, and the celebrities turned out in force! The goal of the Red CARpet event is to promote child passenger safety. Next week, September 17-22, is National Child Passenger Safety Week. Ali Landry hosted the event, which teamed up the organizations Safe Kids Worldwide and Britax.
Every year, thousands of children are tragically injured or killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes. In fact, motor vehicle crashes in the U.S. are the leading cause of death for children age 3 and older. Installing car seats correctly and securing children properly is the most effective combination of steps to protecting them in the event of a crash. Roughly 3 out of 4 child safety seats are not used correctly.
The event benefits Safe Kids, a non-profit whose mission is to prevent unintentional childhood injury. During the event, a team of certified technicians installed more than 30 Britax car and booster seats in vehicles for VIPs and celebrities. In addition to Ali, celebrities who attended included: Tiffani Thiessen (“White Collar”), Alison Sweeney (“Biggest Loser”), Leonor Varela (“Dallas”), Constance Zimmer (“Entourage”), Marla Sokoloff (“The Practice”), Briana Culberson & Vicki Gunvalson (“Real Housewives of Orange County”), Jennifer Aspen (“GCB”), Eric Ladin (“The Killing”), Lindsay Sloane (“Horrible Bosses”), Sarah Lancaster (“Chuck”), Marisol Nichols (“GCB”), Archie Kao (“CSI”), Mark Deklin (“GCB”), Christie Lynn Smith (“General Hospital”), Catherine McCord (host/model), Dave Kushner (musician, Velvet Revolver), Ian Ziering (“Beverly Hills, 90210″), Anya Sarre (celebrity stylist), Talon Smith (“Stars Earn Stripes”), and baby expert Dr. Harvey Karp. What a great cause!
