First Prince Harry, now his sister-in-law, the former Kate Middleton, now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is dealing with a nude picture scandal. Pictures were taken of the Duchess while she and Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, were vacationing last week at a private estate in France before embarking on their tour of Asia. The French magazine ‘Closer’ has published the photos. A Buckingham Palace source told People:
“We certainly feel a red line’s been crossed.”
The source also confided the mood at the Palace was one of “anger and disbelief.” Meanwhile, St. James’ Palace (which is where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s staff are based) released a statement on behalf of Kate and William.
“Their Royal Highnesses have been hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner.
“The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to The Duke and Duchess for being so. Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them. The Duke and Duchess remain focused currently on their Tour of Singapore, Malaysia, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu on behalf of HM The Queen.”
The St. James Palace rep added the couple are considering their legal options. Publications in Britain were offered the pics for publication but declined to do so. Since the couple were on private property, it does seem like a HUGE invasion of privacy to take those pictures!
