I think we all know by now that Britney Spears is one of the new celebrity judges on The X-Factor and that Mariah Carey will be bringing her expertise to American Idol, but apparently that wasn’t her first choice.  Simon Cowell has revealed that Mariah actually approached him first about joining his reality talent show but he was worried that she couldn’t be harsh enough on the talent hopefuls.  According to In Touch Magazine Simon said that;

“Mariah called me about ‘X Factor’ and I met with her but my main concern was that she might have found it harder on ‘The X Factor’ than on ‘Idol’. ‘Idol’ is a more gentle show and Mariah is not someone who wants to say no to people.”

I actually find that hard to believe because Mariah strikes me as such a diva (in the good way) that she would have no problem speaking her mind.  I am so loving The X-Factor right now though that I’m not sure I’ll tune in to Idol when it comes back on the air. What do you think?
